I have looked all over the web for a starting clamp. New, used or otherwise. I have seen them as high as almost $40.00 and not much lower in cost. There are times when a starting clamp would sure come in handy. I am not trying to be a tightwad but $39.00 for a starting clamp seems kinda steep to me. Are there any other alternatives or similar tools that I can use? Where is the best place to get a starting clamp at a decent price? Any suggestions appreciated. Thanks! :D

Most of the luxuries in life have a disproportionately high price - as compared to the necessities.

Agree with Deuce....you definitely get what you pay for in starting clamps. The Babolat ones are very good, but expensive. I think the red handled RAB clamp is the best for the money at around $40. Mine will hold a straight pull at 70+ lbs. I think Alpha sells this same clamp under their brandname through NewTech. I have an Eagnas clamp that I paid around $30 for and it's o.k. for the less demanding situations, but it can't take a straight pull at even 60 lbs. The springs on the Eagnas clamp are much weaker.
