When I have 3 ppl on the court, we play Grand Slam. It's a game we made up one day, where Player A and B play it out first at the Australian Open. Say Player A wins, he then plays C in the French Open and Player B misses out on the French, mainly because he's whinging about his last loss ;).

How you play each one is a player feeds the ball down the centre and you have to have at least 2 easiesh hits before you start the rally. Best of 5 points.

I'm usually Richard Gasquet and won Wimbledon 4 times in a row.

Australian/Canadian or whatever you want to call it doubles is pretty uninteresting and is only a last resort when there are three players and you either absolutely cannot find a fourth for doubles or someone does not volunteer to sit out while the other two play singles. I try to avoid it whenever possible.

I play it all the time, most of the people I know are Canadians (like me).
We do play a game here similar to what you describe, but we call it American Doubles :P

Play it all the time with my brother and friend. Its good to play a match like that cause it's more harder for the single person, its get you smarter, faster, and good since you have to think the whole time and react fast.

I hear this argument all the time. Usually when we have a Saturday practice for USTA League and because of some disrespectful person who doesnt show up we have odd numbers.

I disagree though, I like playing Canadian doubles. I especially like it when Im the only guy because it's a challenge to be able to beat the other two guys, especially if they are by themselves decent players.

It's sometimes a good example of how one solid player can beat two players who do not play well together, because even though they have less court to cover (individually since there are two of them), they sometimes have more weaknesses because they dont cover the court properly.

If you cant beat one player in Cutthroat (Canadian/Austrailian/American, whatever), then you cant expect to beat two players in real doubles.

I sometimes wish someone had a Cutthroat tournament, I think I would do pretty well in it (at my level at least).

The rules that I go by are, the single player hits into the doubles court while the doubles team hits into the singles court.

Same here. Do you guys play points? Like a player gets one point when they win on the doubles side and two points on singles. Oh, we call it Australian Doubles here.

Actually... we (used) to play a game, within a doubles game, called red dot - the object was to tag (hit) an opponent.:)

Is that close?
