After the recent back and forth about whether ice baths were bad for you, here's some info on the latest phenomenon: whole body cryotherapy.

Seems lots of elite athletes are starting to use this; there's a facility in Slovakia (linked above), and a big one in Spala, Poland, and its starting to get rolled out in the West.

You spend one minute in the antechamber at -60C (-76F), before entering the main chamber, which is cooled to -120C (-184F)!! Three minutes in there, and you're ready to take on the world...

Any takers? :D

Which "elite athletes"? Where has it been "rolled out" in the west?

Which "athletes"? "International rugby teams", for starters.
Where's it being "rolled out"? "Ireland", for one, now has a cryotherapy facility.

Thanks for the post!!!!
This definitely falls into the VEDDY INTERESTING category. :)
I'd say it sounds cool, even at the risk of the inevitable groans.
I'm not so sure they aren't over-selling it though.

Terrell Owens had something in his house that seemed like a souped up ice bath thing. It was like a sleeping bag on steroids and I'm pretty sure it cooled way down like the OP said. I'll try and find a video...

*edit* found it, http://www.terrellowens.com/media/news.php?newsid=38 but his is a hyperbaric chamber. Not exactly an ice bath by any means, but still cool nonetheless!
