Think of ‘older’ as whatever you want . . . 40’s . . . or 50’s , 60’s or 70’s . . .

Ignoring the fact that most older players hit with a 1hbh because they probably learned it when younger, do you think that it is the better backhand for an older player due to it being a physically easier backhand stroke?

I believe the 2hbh causes too much stress / twisting on the lower back, such that it would be more likely to eventually injure an older player.

You know, in my experience (from talking with older people, I'm 25 myself), it's really dependent on your preference. I've spoken with older gentlemen who've gone from 1hbh to 2hbh because their arm/shoulder just couldn't take the strain of a sturdy racquet being swung with one hand and who've had no problems with back twisting (after getting used to it initially), and others who've done the reverse and gone to 1hbh's to take stress off their back.

So, sorry, no answers for you. :-p

I guess it depends on what your preference is. I personally use a 1h bh because of the extended reach it gives me and also because I like to slice the ball a lot.

Most older players use a 1hand because they are much less mobile than they used to be and need the extra reach.

At 42, I've recently switched to the 1HBH because I think it will allow me more depth to my game, especially in doubles. I don't favor the "power baseline" game that is so much in style now. I prefer to hit with less topspin and more variety, and the 1HBH supports these goals, and is more economical from the standpoint of energy expended.

2HBH is fairly easy to learn and should not create any problems because of age - I play both. You've got to be carefull that you just don't use your arms like many do. When players use "just" their arms it is more difficult for older players - regardless of age one should not use their arms.
