Ace tennis player Novak Djokovic is on the verge of signing a contract with IMG after dropping previous marketing agents CAA Sports.

According to the sources, IMG has negotiated huge endorsement deals for fellow players Rafael Nadal and Roger Federer.

It is understood, billionaire Ron Burkle is also independently advising Djokovic, but a well placed source claimed the discussion between them is just on a friendly basis.

“Ron advises him on a friendly basis, while the situation on representation is between CAA and IMG,” the New York Post quoted a well-placed source, as saying.

Djokovic had recently said: “I have had a contract with [CAA] I think for four years. I tried to work it out, and it was successful, but I think I needed to move on"

I have always found Djokovic an excellent player and watching him last time with Andy Murray I think he was amazing. He still has quite a few years left but I think tennis has moved on a lot since Federer won his slams and this is no put down to Federer but I think the game has got so much more physically tougher.

Come on, Federer won his last Slam more recently than Djokovic has his. Do you seriously think 24 year-old Federer wouldn't be able to win multiple Slams right now?

He looks very approachable and unassuming off the court. It's easy to relate to him. Did you see the post-WTF videos on the ATP site? He's a laid back kind of guy. (I don't know how he does it with all the pressure of being #1 but that's the way he seems to be).

Well I was astounded when I watched both Nadal, Fed and Murray at close quarters on court just how physical tennis has become. As a tennis player I cannot imagine what it must be like trying to return a shot from these new guys, Djoko and Nadal . Not just for one match but the whole tour. Federer's game plan is without doubt incredible and he is a master at negotiating the returns but it is the sheer physical and mental force that has to be endured week after week. Murray and Djoko have changed their physiques to accommodate this new approach to tennis and it is working but it is very hard work and it takes it out on the body eventually. Federer may have been fit at 24 but I doubt he would have survived.

it's not as if the other players are oblivious to it though. stan noticed. having a heartfelt handshake/ embrace then immediately proceeding to rip your shirt towards the crowd in a very alphamale way is oddly hypocritical to me. i enjoyed the exchanging of shirts he did with someone after a match much more, although its a futbol ripoff. that was excellent. but djokovic along with tsonga are still the most gracious. class acts.

Obviously he'd never answer anything that might seem controversial so that rules out anything too interesting or juicy. I might ask him why he doesn't grow his hair out just a little :)

Fellow brethren, our boy Novak needs to get back in the spotlight, it seems so lackluster at the moment, like he doesn't even exist anymore. :(

There's hardly anyone mentioning him lately and only few of us do, everything has been repetitive GOAT threads (Yeah even I am getting tired of the Federer threads now) and Nadal threads 24/7 it's getting sickening. Hopefully Novak rises from the ashes.

I certainly don't know whether Monica Seles likes the idea of being considered Serbian as opposed to Yugoslavian. 5555's comment implies that she and Novak share a national identity.

Monica Seles is a member of an ethnic minority in Serbia, there are abundant reasons to imagine that 1994 might make sense to her as a time to formalize her citizenship in the US at the time that Serbia became a country with a widely reported complicated set of relationships with their ethnic minorities...

The person who brought this up was 5555 by implying that the two of them share a Serbian national identity. I just pointed out that Monica Seles may not share that identity even though they shared a coach. The person who injected this into this thread is 5555. I am not remotely saying anything negative about Serbia or Serbians in general, just pointing out that the mid-90's were a tough time for that region of the world. The fact is that Monica Seles was never to my knowledge a citizen of Serbia and I was wondering why. That's it.

Because you are clueless... In Yugoslavia, you were a citizen of the Federation by being a citizen of a Republic. So, Seles was of Hungarian minority, a citizen of Serbia and a citizen of Yugoslavia. As far as nationality goes, one was allowed to declare as he pleased. You could have been a Hungarian, a Serbian, a Croatian, a Yugoslavian, a Martian...

In my original statement I did not talk whether Seles was a citizen of Serbia. I merely stated that she was born and raised in Serbia which is a fact. Serbia existed as entity in the period between 1973-1986 and Seles was born and raised in that entity. Following my original statement you started a different subject. You stated it's a fact that Seles was never a citizen of Serbia and I say it is not a fact. So, argument here is whether something is a fact or not and burden of proof is on person who claims that something is a fact (yourself) not person who denies it (myself).

The fact that Seles was a citizen of Yugoslavia does not prove she was not a citizen of Serbia as well, so I did not need to disprove anything.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Monica_Seles

"A citizen of the Socialist Republic of Serbia is, at the same time, a citizen of the Socialist Federal Republic of Yugoslavia" http://www.refworld.org/docid/3ae6b4d54.html

The Wikipedia entry of John McEnroe http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/John_mcenroe mentions only "United States". Does it prove that he is not a citizen of New York?

Got to agree he can be really fun to watch... especially when he's stretching like Spider-Man getting to every ball!

His game isn't in tons of danger like a lot of people here seem to think; it's just there's a healthy Fed again, a recovered/recovering Nadal, and I would say improvement throughout the entire men's game that's going to make wins a real accomplishment this year, whether it's in a GS, 1000, 500, or even some 250s.
I hope he can continue to make it into the QF+ rounds of tourneys, because his matches against the top guys are always so intense

Are you saying it's a fact that Seles was never a citizen of Serbia?

You have not provided proof it's a fact she was never a citizen of Serbia.

Obviously that is what I am saying because it's true, and you haven't provided proof she was. Seles was a citizen of Yugoslavia and then the US from 1994. Why is that do you think? Have ethnic minorities been treated well in Serbia? I doubt she feels any allegiance to the Serbian republic as it stood in 1994 or the several years after when they were a thugocracy.

Don't be ridiculous, please.
She was the most loved female athlete here in Serbia, which cannot be said for Croatia (actually, they were supporting, at least by their medias, Steffi Graf at the start of conflict between ex Yugoslav republics, just because she was born in Serbia...anyways, political ********, as always).

By the way, since 1992, Yugoslavia was basically Serbia (and only a small part of it was Montenegro), although its name remained the same until 2002.

Can you refute my argument in the post #166 which supports my claim that the burden of proof is on you?

sam_p, you've lost the argument yet again.

You've lost the plot again. There isn't an argument going on here. Just a recitation of simple facts...Monica Seles was never a citizen of Serbia. Waiting for your evidence she was...

sam_p and 5555, please stop that ********. Itīs getting annoying. This thread should be for Djokovic fans and not for your personal discussions about some absolute nonsense which has nothing to do with Djokovic. THANKS!!!!!!!!!!

Monica Seles was never a citizen of Serbia.

Can you prove it?

Waiting for your evidence she was...

You stated it's a fact that Seles was never a citizen of Serbia and I say it is not a fact. So, argument here is whether something is a fact or not and burden of proof is on person who claims that something is a fact (yourself) not person who denies it (myself).

Sadly you are wrong again, can't lose an argument to you because you are incapable of making an argument.
