I'm having trouble keeping my arm straight during the swing.
I used to kinda unfold into the ball(flexing my tricep kinda?), my arm was straight at contact though.
Is it bad to lead with the elbow during the swing? and
any tips on keeping my arm straight?
If a video would be easier I can get one in the next few days.

Well what I would say is that you should hit the ball a bit farther in front of you.
That way your arm can stay straight instead of curving at the elbow, etc. :)

You can't hit a one handed backhand properly by keeping your arm completely straight for the whole stroke. In fact, even having your arm perfectly straight at contact is "wrong".
Who told you to do that? Why are you trying to do that?
Has you backhand gotten worse since trying to keep your arm straight during the swing? Unfolding into the ball, as you put it before, is a much more "proper" description of how it should be done.

straighten your arm out as your turn your body, justine henin, gaston gaudio, kuerten, pretty much any one with a good backhand, does this.
