What types of serves do you have? When do u use em? I myself have a monster flat serve which i call my "scud serve" which i use 65-70% of my first serves. Also an big t-spin that i also on my first serve, it dosent have have a big bounce or kick to it, i just use it for consicistancy and so i can hit my spots better. And finally i have my slice serve that is only effective on da duece court (im right-handed.) I have a slower t-spin serve for my second serve. I wanna develop a kick serve for second. What kind of serves do u have?

I have a flat serve, spin serve, slice serve and an underhand serve that I throw in for a drop shot to catch my opponent off guard.

Deuce side-flat down middle, slice out wide for first. Kicker down T at various depths for 2nd. Mix up occasionally. Don't get many aces on this side, though more of them come from down the T.

Ad-Flat down middle, flat to body. I get most of my aces from my flat down middle (comes instinctively). Kicker out wide, slice-topspin down middle for 2nd serve. I get a ace here and there from a fast kicker occasinaly.

I have very consistent flat serves as I rarely go 100% and as long as the toss doesn't move around (which is usually).

My favorite thing to do is to throw in a surprising underhand serve randomly, and then later on, randomly intentionally "whiff" an abrupt underhand serve, and watch them scramble forward a few steps just the back up.

It's hilarious. But i'd suggest not doing it often as it's pretty annoying to them, and you might lose a few friends in the process, haha

First Serve:
Deuce - Flat, down the line and into the body being the most effective/consistent for me; starting to see some success hitting lines out wide, but I've noticed players are *far* more likely to call in balls out for these serves.
Ad - Flat, down the line all the way to hitting the line wide are all effective/consistent for me. For some reason people don't call the wide one's here out as often as the deuce side? Weird.
Occasionally mix in a heavy topspin second serve with a tad more power, if I want to conserve energy.

Second:
Deuce - Heavy spin, effective/consistent from line to out wide, but again, players seem to call out wide balls out when they hit the line.
Ad - Heavy spin, effective/consistent from line to out wide.
Occasionally use the first serve as a second serve if I'm by more than a point, am serving like normal, and am not at risk of fatigue.

Ace's most common down the line deuce side (due to poor calls out wide), and down the line and out wide on the ad side. Second serve aces are by far my favorite, and well worth the occasional double fault.

I hit mostly flat on my first serve, sometimes with a little spin if I feel I'm hitting a bit long.
For seconds I tend to mix the up the first 2 games and see what the opponent has trouble with and go from there. Topspin, Slice, Kick, just depends. My kick is no good though for anyone with any ability

I think it's lame when people give their serves names like 'scud'. That's like trying to convince someone you have a bigger 'stick'. Just do what most people do when they have this problem...drive a HUGE truck. lol

I mainly have the kick serve (using a e-g). Been practicing on my kicker to kick more then it use to be. Also i have a flat serve (using cont./semi w-g) but at a 40% ratio on the first or second serve. Then I'm hoping to try a revesre kicker (on AD. side and w-g) but need a lot of practice....

I usually use a hard flat serve on my 1st. I will throw a top spin and slice serve sometimes to change it up. I usually try to slice it out wide when they are in the center more. My 2nd serve is usually slice and to their backhand, with a top spin serve every once in a while.

that is funny- reminds me of Ali G.
speaking of guys calling good serves out, is there anything more infuriating? also, I think I do get more agitated when someone, who has already indicated that they are unsure of the call, offers me the opportunity to take two serves. when did this start? I guess it comes from playing w/guys who didn't grow up playing competitively & learn the rules & etiquette, etc. Memo to those guys: if you don't see the ball clearly out, then don't call it out (in which case it is then in).

Actually, the second I pressed the submit button, Chuck Norris appeared beside me and round-house kicked me in the face for claiming that I have serve equal to his marvelous abilities. Now I know I only have a regular kick serve. Thanks Chuck!

It's one thing to have a serve that OTHER people call 'scud'. It's another thing to call your own serve 'scud'. I imagine you probably make sound effects when you hit it, don't you? "wwwwhhhhoooooOOOOOOOOSSSSSHHHHHHHHH........BOOOOOO OOM!!!!!!!!!!" lol

I have a flat serve, a slice serve, and a combination slice/topspin serve that I attempt to hit on most second serves(I try to move it around).

Every once in a while, I hit a pure topspin serve, but it is so random that it isn't really part of my arsenal.
