If you mean a two-handed backhand, no, honestly I don't think that will help.

This guy is totally incorrect. When a right handed person is hitting 2h Backhands most of the time the left hand will be leading the shot with the right for stability and control. The best two handers really are their off hand forehands. Take Nadal for instance, I'd say he practically has two forehands.

Actually I think this is great. Two-handed backhand is basically a left handed forehand. Keep at it.

Ok so the left hand leads the shot. But it's not like it is providing the majority of the power (shoulder rotation and upper body is more important). Practicing left-handed forehands might help to reinforce the motion I guess...but hey if you feel like your backhands improve then it's worth it.

I'm sorry to disagree again, but the bolded part is stupid. That is like saying you shouldn't practice a forehand with your right hand (right handed) because you should provide power from your rotation and legs. Hey, you can rotate all you want, but you won't hit a decent shot if you arm isn't doing the right things at the right times.

I was talking about the power. You can swing your arm in the right motion, but still get no power. The left hand does not aid much in generating force.
You mentioned the left hand leads the shot, so you're really in for it because it helps with the motion (unless you have another reason?). But you might as well practice the motion of a normal 2-handed backhand; there's really no point to isolate the stroke.
Also, hopefully you do not mean to practice in the same motion as your normal right-handed forehand (unless you have an extremely traditional stroke).

no matter what you say a double handed backhand is a left handed shot primarily the right hand just guides the racquet.....

Hey, if you really like your left hand that much, just hit forehands with both your hands. :)
(A two-handed backhand requires additional time for the extra footwork needed - about the same time it takes for you to switch the racquet from you right to left hand.)
Nah, just kidding.

I think it's a good thing, maybe try hitting it as hard as you can and each day you'll have the coordination/strength to hit harder and harder and you should see an increase in power/coordination in your 2 hander.
Also another thing to try is to hit a normal 2 hander, except barely hold the grip with your dominate hand, to the point that all it is is along for the ride, and doesn't help the swing at all. This will help people to hit the 2 hander more with the non-dominate hand

I have a decent two-hander. And personally I never practiced with just my left hand. But as I said, if it works for you then do it.
I would also like to add I believe there are better ways to spend that one hour (unless you happen to have a lot of spare time). Why not just hit regular backhands - you can get pretty good at hitting backhands that way.

Think about it like strength training, they always talk about how Nadal has such a good backhand because his "off hand" is so strong. If he doesn't have a partner to hit with, why not hit lefty against the wall, he'll develop very good coordination/strength in his off hand which should left him generate more effortless pace of his 2hander.

Also, if just hitting with your left arm gets too exhausting, grip the racket with your right hand also using only the thumb and the index finger. I find that I can get the same effect and practice longer with this.

Building up your left hand through left handed forehands is a good way to build up your 2-hander.
As a coach I very often see pupils who don't use enough of their left hand in their backhand and getting them to hit left handed forehands has gotten good results.
Agassi did a lot of work on this and enough to the point where he was beating his coach with his left hand. (so I hear)
