I wrote this in fun as a writing exercise...hope you guys like it ;)

Once upon a time tennis had a king who was Swiss,
He played with precision and nary a miss.

He peered from steely eyes behind his shock of hair,
and he ruled all he surveyed, with great skill and flair.

He started slowly but never was fooled,
one by one all the pretenders were schooled.

They tried hard and long to enter his lair,
but his genius sent them back in despair.

And so he ruled with an iron grip and a flick of his wrist,
but before long, the tale had a twist.

There came a Spanish prince who grew up on dirt,
he fought everyone hard and put on the hurt.

He pumped his fist and leapt in the air,
with every point he showed he was the new heir.

Thus the King found his dominance rivaled,
and between them won everyplace they traveled.

Into the equation came a third variable,
A determined Serb who was very able.

In the locker-room where players like poker,
They hated him and named him the Djoker.

He had clean strokes and an attitude that was saucy,
he spoke aloud of how he would be bossy!

He fought the prince and jumped on the wagon,
in defeating the King he slayed a dragon.

Now no one thinks he is a joke,
its not a fluke the two biggest wills he broke.

He showed when it matters most he will not wilt,
with ambition to match, he has a great game built.

So for fans competition is good in a three-way tie,
we can all relax and kiss bad tennis good-bye!

Excellent Post!

Your use of Kings, Prince's and/or courtiers is very apt.
I recall when Sampras dismantled Becker in the 1996 Wimbledon final. Becker was described by the BBC as an older, wiser, wearier courtier; no match for a King.

Maybe Federer is becoming that weary courtier? We shall see?

Awesome man, just amazing. You should copyright this so no one can get it off of here and use it. :) Try to sell it to Federer or Nadal. Make a pretty penny.

Yes, very good poem!

I think it may work even better if you add the Djoker on:

In the locker-room where players like poker,
They hated him and named him Djoker.

Updated by popular demand :)

I don't claim to be very good at this, so I'll take any suggestions to make it better and update it.

Maybe we should start a new section for user's poems, limericks, puns and rap on Tennis. Give Spadea something to think about ;)
