would this be good in a poly/multi combo?
should i put the gammas on the crosses. i really like the feel of just the gammas but its costly using the whole thing.
in a poly hybrid with polys on the main would it not be that much worse to use syn gut on the crosses instead of gamma pros?

thanks :D

IMHO, professional is an OK string, but in either hybrid, it's a bit of a waste. If you hybrid the pro in the mains, they would snap pretty quick. Pro is really soft, and would get eaten up with poly crosses.

On the flip side, if you put pro in the crosses, you negate a good percentage of it's benefits. It'll soften up the hybrid, but it won't feel much like pro to begin with (which you like). It'll also fray and wear down pretty quick. You would get a good hybrid with just syn gut.

As DD pointed out, Gamma Professional is an "OK" string. It's pricy, and for the same price, you can do a gut hybrid that plays a lot better. I put a set in one of my rackets. I pulled it out and used it one day, thinking I had my other racket with the Klip Legend/Head Fibergel Power setup. I wasn't getting the ball over the net consistently. The strings just weren't grabbing the ball like they normally did. I looked at it after a set and noticed it was the "2 knot" racket I had. I put it back in the bag, got my normal "4-knot" hybrid, and all was well. One thing I CAN say, is that it "looks" a lot like gut.

what hybrid would you recommend for a pretty heavy topspin baseliner?

scotty, either the Gamma Professional or the Gamma Professional Spin would be a great string to use for the crosses in a hybrid with poly mains.

Gamma even packages it that way with their Zo Pro (http://www.tennis-warehouse.com/descpageACGAMMA-GZOPRO.html) and Zo Pro Spin (http://www.tennis-warehouse.com/descpageACGAMMA-GZOPROSP.html) strings (both using Zo Power (http://www.tennis-warehouse.com/descpageACGAMMA-GZOP.html) for the mains).
