This is a well known place for tennis players near my community (about 30 min. away) and I have decided that I want to take tennis lessons there. I called in query of the price for the lessons that they offer. $20- 30 min. $30-1 hr.. My first thought was, "How much could I possibly learn in an hour for that price?" Then I reminded myself that tennis is a pricey sport to play. My question is: Is this a good price for the time, and approximately how much could I learn in 1 hour? BTW, It may be helpful to know that he is, from what I've heard, an excellent coach.

i pay roughly $65 dollars for 6 1 hour lessons. they are group lessons though. i'm sure private lessons are more expensive.

if i take lessons @ my park from a instructor who teaches there, it'd be 45 for private and 40 for group. if i go to my local pro, its 75 private and no groups. 30 bucks is pretty good as long as they teach well

It might be a good idea to take classes with a friend at the same level as you. That way you can learn together and practice what you learn between classes. I believe it will help you develop quicker since you are not depending only on classes for practice.

I think $30 is very reasonable for an hour lesson.

Clinics during the summer were really cheap for me. 4 weeks of 3 hours of great coaching for about 1200 bucks.

Dude, you got it good. Just make sure they teach you something, something that's helpful. I mean, sometimes it's just to correct your little mistakes that you knew already, 'Like bend your knees more, etc, etc,', but sometimes you can learn a alot. A lesson here is roughly $52 per HALF and hour. :-(

50$ an hour here for a certified coach.

30$ for a good coach is amazing as far as I'm concerned

The value of the hourly rate you pay is all relative. A 10/hr. lesson where you learn nothing is more expensive than a 50/hr. lesson that made something click inside your head.

I'm actually not sure. When I called the place, a lady told me that you schedule an appointment when he is in. Then you go to take the lesson on the appointed date. She then said that you hit a few balls so that the coach can evaluate your strokes, and see what types of things you need to work on. After that, she said that you tell him which type of playing style you'd like to master. I do understand that it will definitely take more than one lesson to master a playing style, but she didn't specify whether or not they were group or private lessons.

$30 sounds pretty resonable to me. I forget the prce at my club for lessons (I haven't been to my club in months). But that sounds pretty good to me
