Expect a highly superficial, very commercialized 'show' that Mr. Ashe would likely be rather embarrassed to have his name associated with.

^Show?
Will there be match play? Or a chance to watch pro's practice?

I am going with my kids. A lot of games for kids on the ground, and yes many pros are practicing. In the main stadium they have activities: a kids concert and pro drills (Fed and Roddick and others).

Last year, I saw an exhibition by JMac, Nodal, Young and Mofil, sponsored by Nike, a lot of fun. Only the main stadium charges money, the ground pass is free (and more fun).

I highly recommend it if you have kids and want to expose them to the best for free. 20% chance of rain, watch out for that.

This year, because of the rain day on monday, qualifier matches will also be held on the grounds, so you could go see those if you get bored

So if you buy a ticket, you can just wander around the USTA tennis center?
What I'm mainly interested in is, will be be any chance to watch a pro hit/practice?

The qualifying is free if you're a usta member (maybe just general public, not sure.) Why not go and watch that?

Qualifying is free admission: Period. If you go on Kid's Day, you only pay if you want to get into Ashe Stadium.

I went there today and got Andy and Novak's signatures. Federer was there but didn't go near me when he was signing sigs :(. It was a pretty hot day and the food burned a hole in my wallet, but it was pretty awesome watching the Pro's practice. Off the top of my head, I saw Roddick, Djokovic, Baghdatis, Federer, Moya, Hewitt, Haas.
