A thicker gauged poly would be very low powered.

I did this string comparison test:

http://www.tennis-warehouse.com/playtests/MIDLIFE01.html

and have for the last couple of weeks been using Red Code 1.25. It is a much lower powered string than the P2, which in my experience is one of the lower powered poly strings. It doesn't lose much tension either, so even after about ten hours of play it is still pretty tight. As a result of the lower ball trajectory due to tighter strings, and the low power level, my groundies are probably five to eight feet shorter than they would be with the P2.

I don't notice that it's any harsher than the P2, and I don't get any more spin or any more consistent response. It plays a lot like P2, but just with less power.

I've played with both Pro Blend and Aramid Gear and the Red Code is pretty close to either of these.
