View Full Version : main in way of cross tie-off

Have come across this on 3 different Wilson Hammer type racquets.

The cross tie-off grommet is right up against the #8 main.

On one of mine I just tied it on the other side of the main:

Not the best solution, but wanted to finish it. There was no space to put the knot between the main and the grommet. Main was too tight to push out of the way too.

Here is one I wish to string 2 piece:

Cross tie-off is again #11 and again is blocked by main. What is the best way to proceed?

I am new to stringing but I would say you should check the stringing instructions from the manufacturer for that model, I am pretty sure you are tying in the wrong gromments.

actually..there are some frames that do have the mains getting in the way of the crosses, but it's not to that extent. some frames having plenty of room for a single half hitch knot, but not enough for a double...so you have to kind of move the main out of the way to get that second one in...but i've only seen it on one type of frame.

I just strung my brothers FXP instinct team(horrible racket for those who are wondering) but I had the same problems.

Had the same problem with diff. frames.

Had succes with a knot on each side of the main. Doesn't give a tight finish, but works.

If you plan ahead you can gently enlarge another hole to accept a tie off. This is best done before you install any of the strings.
