Which car should I get? I've narrowed down my choices to the following 3... They are in and around the same price range.. the 330 has more power, 225hp to be exact.. The 325 has 187hp but I can afford to get the Navigation system which is nice!.. no more getting lost...

the x3 is cool too...

If you have an ipod and it's really important to you, go with the 330. You can't use an ipod if you have a navigation system. My father found out the hard way when he bought his 525i. If not, buy the 325. The navigation system is pretty sweet. Will you be getting bluetooth and all that jazz in yours?

Who needs navigation? It'll break down sooner or later. Get the 745, I mean 330.

who knows the difference between a porcupine and a BMW ?

330 why? cuz if you get the 325 you'll always regret not getting the bigger engine. YOu'll use the engine more than you'll use the NAV that's for sure.

Actually then again. new 3-series should be out soon so I'd wait actually or get used M3 :)

I have thought about used M3, but I'd have to get 2002 M3 coupe which runs around 45k already!.. The m3 convertibles are running 50+ which is a little out of my range.

The 2006 3 series is suppose to be very similar to the current 3 series, with no change to engine. The body will also be very similar with minor tweaks.

Buy the 330, then put a good aftermarket navigation system. You'll save 50% off of the manufacturer's price, who marks up such items ridiculously.

Pretty much the same as the 2002 and up but all of them come with 100K warranties on the engine because of that issue with the engine they had a while back. Most of them don't have the issue but nonetheless BMW gave out the extended warranties. If it's out of the 3 above thend efinitely go for the 330. Don't like the X3 because it doesn't really give the bmw experience.

BTW, the X3 is really a girl SUV, don't do that to yourself. May as well go get a miata-at least it's cheaper.

Good idea, let's wait for a problematic first-year offering since you know how little time is actually worth, and how great Bangle's first 3 design will be. Have you seen pictures? Why not just get a used M3, and when the engine blows up one day out of warranty, make sure to ask this question again?

330i definetly if you want new, but I think a used m3 would be the way to go. I had a 330i until I was t-boned by a pick up... :cry:

We just traded in our '98 323i convertible for a 2005 Miata. It's just my wife and I, we have a PT Cruiser for the utilitarian duties, and we wanted something with 2 seats.

Anyway, unless you do a lot of driving that requires that you have to be hunting for locations all of the time, the 330 is the only choice. The X3 has gotten pretty lame reviews for its harsher-than-needed ride quality.

I like the idea of the added horses. You'll appreciate it when you're carving your way around some well researched back roads...if you know what I mean. 8)

With that attitude why not just stay in your bed all day from morning to night and avoid all human contact. :roll:

The guy is set on getting a bmw and yes the horror stories are bad but that's the case with any vehicle. Even honda isn't immune with their transmission problems in the (Acura) CL and new accords. I know more people with M3's that are driving fine than there are with major engine problems. In fact I don't know anyone who owns an M3 with the engine problems but that doesn't mean it doesn't exist. Just with the power of the internet the stories travel much faster than say 10 years ago.

Thanks for the suggestions. I think I'm most inclined to the 330 Convertible (even though I won't really have the hood down often.. i rarely drive with the windows down hehe)... I will post some pictures of the ride once i get the car :)

Well if you're not going to use the top that often why not save some money and just get the coupe?

330 is the most fun to drive and would be my choice for you, but is too small of a car for me to fit into very comfortably at 6'4. I have test driven the BWM 330 but prefer the new Acura TL and currently own a 255HP Maxima SE. Audi A6 is another very nice car but likely too large for what you are looking for.

Infiniti G35 is also RWD and faster and less expensive than the BMW 330.

G35 has no backseat compared to the 330 though. Great car nonetheless. Interior is a bit on the low end side but that has been improved in the new models. Just too many of them on the road. G35's have been on the scene less than the 330 but are surpassing it in numbers quickly. Can't go wrong with either car though :).

Buy a Honda hybrid. Good for the economy and with the money you save you can help the poor.

I'm with Irish, go for the hybrid. I prefer the Prius during my weekly drives and my redneck-mobile on weekends: gas-sucking, ozone-depleting, eardrum-busting, no headrest-having International Scout. From the days when the common man could actually work on an engine. Besides, the only people I see in 300 series Beemers are girls and metrosexuals. Don't be that guy.

you all know the difference between a porcupine and a BMW? In case you dont, the porcupine has the *****s on the outside.....i don't make these up, i just pass them along ;0

@wright
11-04-2004, 08:47 AM
That was great, Ed. I'll have to remember that one! KevinT, no one can fault you for driving a Scout, this separates the men from the boys! Do you happen to have milk crates instead of the stock seats?

@wright

Also, in reference to what Ed and Kevin have said about bimmers, a guy I live near has an M3 and his license plate reads "watupm3". Don't be this guy.

That looks EXACTLY like the M3 I was talking about, do they paint them all the same color? Nice looking car, just wondering, do you work at initech?

TwistServe
12-02-2004, 06:47 AM
No I dont work at intech, and they don't paint all the M3s the same..

The most popular colors are TiSilver.. Next would be Black and white.. there are also yellow, red, blue, and a few others but they aren't popular.. My first choice was white and second choice was silver..

Get a Lincoln. They are the most dependable car in the market. If you are leasing, never mind.
