Does anyone rate this racket much? Or was it nothing special?

The Hyper Pro Staff 6.1 is one of the more popular racquets and it gets a lot of play, in these forums and in my experiences.

It's my favorite version of the Pro Staff 6.1 line, although I use the nCode nsix-one right now.

I use a HPS 6.1. It's alot better than the crap Wilson puts out now, like the nCode and the [K]Factor 6.1s. Very solid racquet, however, it's quite rare and hard to find...

I've got the opportunity to get hold of the 18*20 version and i've always wondered what it will play like. Granville on the TW reviews seemed to like it lol.

I found the racket to have amazing control and decent pop but it just felt to sluggish and I ended up switching. I found myself late on a lot of balls with it, especially volleys. I still have 4 of them though. Maybe they will increase in value and I can sell them eventually for a ton of money. :)

I agree, sluggish and harsh. Even the k95 with a higher listed SW playes/swings easier and is more crisp imo.

If its sluggish maybe the swingweight is too much for you.

Great stick, but not rare. I see tons of them, including brand-new ones, on the big auction site every time I check. Besides, Wilson hasn't made any drastic changes to this racquet line since the original. If you really like the 6.1, you will be able to adapt easily to any of the versions IMO.

And please, save the arguments; I know that they are not all identical to one another in terms of weight, balance, and feel. They ARE, however, very close - close enough to be tweaked with strings/tension or lead tape to make the feel and playability similar.

Does anyone know if the 18*20 version has the same weight as the 16*20 version?

The HPS 6.1 came in a 'Tour' version w/ 18x20 pattern. It was also heavier (12.6oz, I think) than the 12.2 oz 'regular' frame that had a 16x18 pattern. I found the Euro frame to be fantastic off the ground but a bit 'clunky' at net.

I liked the HPS6.1 way over the nCode 6.1. Haven't tried the k 6.1 so dont know about that.
