I've been monitoring this discussion board and am wondering what some of the "experts" ratings are. Also, do these pros or pro wannabe's play leagues & tournaments. What results do they have?
It seems as though there are a couple of nasty fueds currently going on in this forum. It is hilarious to read some of bantering back & forth. It would be amusing to know how well they do in competition.

I know some of these guys have played in D1 level, has studied tennis in more formal and scientific(?) ways. Some of them are certified nationally and/or internationally and have coached junior players..

I play at 4.0 level. Frankly, I have learned a lot from this board, and from a coach that has been helping me out..

I know a few of these guys play around 4.0 level but always provide good tips as well.

I don't think you have to be an advanced player to be able to provide good tips, because you can still learn intricacies, and nuances of game at intermediate level..

Here we go again!

I am providing tips on this forum for the last six years and this is the first time someone has asked our rating (playing ability). I played national and international tournaments with mix results. I have won several singles and doubles titles at national and regional levels. Was number 1 in Pakistan in 45Above, and number 1 in Kuwait in 50Above categories. Even with an injured knee, I reached the semi-finals in 35 and 45 age groups in the Asian Veteran Championships 1996, Pataya, Thailand.

Currently I am ITN-3. At the time of testing (October 16th), I was number 1 in the world in 35Above, and number 22 in the world in the Mens Open. To know more about the ITN rating system, please log on to: www.oncourtassessment.com, and www.itftennis.com/itn.

I hope this helps.

By the way, if you have found any of my tips, advice, or instruction wrong, please let me know, I will refund the money!

Mahboob Khan, I mean to ill intent by my post. Just curious as to the ratings of some of the advice givers. I assure you that I was not referring to you as one of the fueding posters on this board. It looks as though you are a very accomplished player. I wish I were as good! I am a 4.0 player, returning to the game after an 18 year layoff.

Jun, you scared me. No, just joking! Thanks.

Mr. Punisher: I like your post. Let me know if I could be of any further help. I am glad you read stuff on this Forum. It is fun, isn't it? Regards,

Unless you are a newcomer to tennis, a decent browse around the discussions makes it pretty clear who gives out good advice. But one may be deceived now and then, so it is best you have at least some background. Then, again, it is frequently advised in many posts that a teaching pro is always highly recommended at most all levels.
I don't mean to say Punishers worry about the level of advisors is unfounded. It is quite the contrary, actually. But I can add that I have seen much more bad advice being given on courts (not my case, I take lessons very seriously) than on this board.

4.0 NRTP computer rated player after going 25-2 at the 3.5 level a couple of years ago. Still learning and improving in my goal to earn a 4.5 rating. Not an expert but I read lots of tennis books and have much experience from about 1000 matches against about 200 different opponents ranging from 2.5 to 5.0s in the last 5 years. Love the game and love pushing the envelope of what is possible within my own abilities and would love to see everyone else max out their own tennis abilities and any other goal in life to improve themselves. Tennis is the ultimate sport in my opinion.

Obviously, someone hasn't learned to seperate teaching and coaching tennis with playing tennis. But just to satisfy this post - I will answer my current state in tennis.

I am a USPTA certified pro. I am an x-San Diego State college player. I have been playing since the usual age - about 8 years old.

The last time I competed in a tournament was when I was 35 years old shortly before my daughter was born. I played at the open level at CHOC and did not take home the trophey.

I am 45 years old now with three young children. I do not compete anymore for several reasons. Too much money to keep a rating and too much time away from my family. I also never went professional.

Now, my time playing tennis is on the weekend with players who still compete in tournaments (they are either single or no kids). These players range from 4.5 to open level players depending on who we can get to play.

My devotion to tennis is in coaching not playing. The time you are spending on the couort is time I am spending reading, researching, and analyzing pro film. I do not place much value on playing skills (except to have decent strokes in all areas) because coaching tennis is a different animal. There are many good players that are terrible coaches and vice versa.

All I can say to you is who cares about the bickering. When you get this many players together - there is bound to be disagreement and arguments.

Who cares if the player may not be as good as you giving the advice. You are here for a reason, to learn how to improve YOUR game. If the advice given is good and the shoe fits - wear it.

Mr. Punisher: Now take our advice seriously if you want to improve! Just joiking. You need not to take our advice if it does not sound logical. Bungalow Bill and I try our best to analyze the game, and then come up with a balanced advice.

Nice to know more about you, BB.

If ratings and ranking are what impress you then go find a local certified teaching pro with the highest ranking in his/her former playing days and pay by the hour for some very expen$ive advice. If you surf the TW boards, you may get even better free advice or you may get flamed by many nasty posters. That is the chance you take and your chances will increase dramatically depending upon the quality of your questions/posts :!:

My, there are some touchy folks reading this post. I didn't mean to sound like the advice givers weren't qualified. I was just wondering what kind of experience some of these people had. I could log on to a "brain surgery" board and start spouting advice but I wouldn't know what the hell I was talking about!
I might expect someone to ask my experience about brain surgery so they could justify my advice as reasonable. Have a nice day
