View Full Version : O3 Tour mid...how tight?

The highest recommended tension on the O3 Tour mid is 61lbs. I am taking a break from poly for a while to let the joints heal, and will probably use a soft nylon for a while. Just curious, how many of you have exceeded the recommended tension of 61lbs with a soft string and how tight have you gone?

61lbs still seems to soft to me with nylon in the stick. Would 65 put any stress on the frames that would cause cracking? I use a drop-arm/weight stringing machine and want to ensure I don't crack my frames at 65.

Thanks in advance...

I've never done it with an O3, but I've put Gamma Ruff in a Babolat at 80-85 pounds without an implosion.

i strung my midsize up at about 63 pounds with babolat superfine play 17. No problems there. i probably would not go higher than 65 though just because i see no point in it. I have found that for me 57-60lbs works the best in that frame.

to add to this, its 18mm beam along with the O-ports are probably too weak to support all that tension ;)

I went 64 when I used it. No problems.

I never hit with it, it was for a customer who is a local teaching pro and is about 60 years old. I had to re-calibrate the machine afterwards.
I think he has reconsidered and gets it at about 65-70 now.

Sorry to steal the thread briefly, but does this racket require the boomerang tool as well?

Not if you have a brake on your stringing machine turntable.
