Interesting, I didn't know there was such a difference between those batches. I have a black label Asian N90 and I absolutely love it! I've never tried the silver one - maybe I don't know what I'm missing, but then again, ignorance is bliss! :)

If the black label is working for you-- then that's what you should be using.
It's not my bowl of Pho though.

i remember i bought a pair of Asian N90 with black label shortly after i sold my silver because i missed it and finding another silver was impossible. Anyhow, first impression--i thought it was a fake. Both, strung, were at even balance, the leather grip, unlike the currents one on the k90s, felt like a stack of compressed paper painted tan, the frame was quite flexy and just didn't feel right from the beginning. On top of that, i compared it with my US n90 and it had a darker shade of red. The thing that threw me off was the balance and how much it flexed; it was suppose to be 9pt headlight, stiff and stable yet what i had were the exact opposite-flexy, flimsy, even balanced, kind of like a Walmart racket.
I later confirmed with my friend that they were the real AN90 as he had a pair similar to mine bought from an authorize store. I guess Wilson really step down on their quality, not just the frame itself, but the overall appearance(paint, leather etc.) when they made their last batch of AN90.

It's been more than a year i searched for a silver AN90 and taaaadahhhh: found none. It's hard enough to find an AN90, let alone a silver label.

By the way, recently i compared my US tour 90 with my Asian Tour 90 and the shade of yellow inside the hoop are different. The Asian has a brighter yellow while the US has more of a flat yellow.

VERY NICE Vantage MN!

Are you keeping the K90 in original form (new)? should be a keeper

Yeah I probably will keep it as a collection, not going to string them up any time soon as I only use midplus racquets in matches. Might find a second hand AK90 to play with though.

Indeed. They are a bit lighter.

not a bit, a lot lighter, AK90 is 11.3oz unstrung ( listed on the racquet ), so that makes it about 11.7 or .8 oz.

Nice. However, how do you keep strings in that thing? Gut mains and Poly crosses in a POG? I wish I could put some gut in mine, but it will be a very expensive exercise.

This is my only first time to use gut and I just want to know how it feels to play with it. I never play with gut before. Anyway, I have tried some serving practice with it, it feels very crisp, lots of spin, and also I get some easy power and some nice kick serves. The loose tension also makes the racquet feels very soft for my arm..... I am thinking about putting some more weight in the racquet... but so far the weight is just ok for me.

It's a christmas present and the only expensive string setup i've ever had.. so I won't be practicing a lot with this. I mostly use my other racquet with the luxilon alu fluoro for my practice.

I don't understand your question: "How do you keep strings in that thing?" do you mean is it difficult to put the string in thè racquet...? i bought it from TW and they string it for me. Or do you mean the racquet won't hold the strings? I hope it will.. :)

The POG mid 14 mains pattern chews through strings. In addition the gut mains and poly crosses has a tendency to saw through the mains even faster, so it may not last long at all. It is a great setup though :)

Thanks for the info. Nice to learn something new. I definitely want to make this racquet last long if I can, hahahah. Anyway, it is a great feeling to be able to try this string combination for the first time in my life :)

I don't think many people would be interested in buying a racquet after I was done with it.

I'm pretty hard on equipment, and when I retire a frame, if it isn't already puked, it feels like it is going to snap in half every time you lay into a FH.

its been a while since hitting with the k88 as i primarily use the prestiges, but its a big ace/maxim touch hybrid, around 55.. if i re-strung it, i would most likely put a full poly on as its a bit powerful.

yeah, there arent any powerpads on the 88

Did you buy them some time ago because the Microgel Prestige are out of stock?

It must have cost a bomb to get them as their prices didnt really drop

I am an ex State, National Junior, and wanna be pro.. Although that was 15 years ago.. And even at my peak I would have had 15-20 frames..

Anyone that is not a pro, or even looks like turning pro, has no business having 20 or more frames.. And if they have paid for the frames themselves, then it reeks of a wanna be try hard that is more interested in showing off, than having any kind of actual talent.. Wankerism comes to mind..

To the average bloke. Then 4 frames will do you nicely if you play local tournaments and social..

This is my lot now days. Four AG100's, thats it!..... In fact I only have one frame from my old days left, and that is it. Puma Boris Becker Super.

No need for memories I say.. You don't even need the latest crap...

well, there are people that have accumulated racquets over his or her lfetime, and tennis is one of those sports where the gear (mainly racquets) is alot more than just what you play with (to some). i definatley tie certain memories to certain racquets i have used, wich is why i still keep my old racquets that are of no use to me (the first racquet i ever used, my prince turbo shark, for example). and racquets are somewhat of an investment, im sure 20 yrs from now some of the racquets that are new today will be the 'rare' and 'golden' racquets of the future.

I love this thread. I collect '80s midsize graphites. These are my favorites to play:

http://lh4.ggpht.com/_R75QH658YRs/S9LOo_CWSJI/AAAAAAAAekU/xQGyWiFbfPg/s800/P1040908.JPG

Left to right, they are: Rossignol F-280, Dunlop Black Max, Wilson Sting, Donnay Pro 25 and Spalding Graphite Legacy. All very narrow-beamed, solid, whippy, and a lot of fun to hit.
