View Full Version : Forehand winner down the line on service T

Can anyone give me tip on how to go for a forehand winner near the side of the service line? It doesn't matter whether DTL or crosscourt. I am having a hard time achieving this shot.

dont go for a winner. go for an approach shot deep in the corner and finish the point at net

I agree w/ Yonex. Go for the practical shots.

thanks for the response guys. I guess a controlled aggression is a better decision by finishing the point at the net.
But is it hard to excute that shot? I know the margin of error is very high on that.

an approach shot deep in the corner can be an issue at times since you open up angles for him. and when you give a return in a corner from the T line, your angle will not be deep.
( i assume the server is athletic)
from what i know, an approach shot somewhere between the center and sideline, followed to the net, makes a DTL pass very risky for him.
he has to try a cross-court return, or lob. So there is less court available for him.
If he's a beginner, most chances are his lobs will rarely be in.
(don't hug the net, btw, stay off it). Don't be put off by one lob that worked, or even one pass that worked.
but also don't do this all the time, don't be predictable. keep him guessing.
