that also looks a little like a "flame-broiled/well-done" Joan of Arc.

On the last "Real Time with Bill Maher" show on HBO, Maher had a bit that showed all kinds of possibilities of what that flame looked like. If you have HBO, check out that episode... it's pretty good.

(There are also some 9/11 conspiracy theory protesters in the audience that start heckling Maher in the middle of that show, which is shot live. Maher gets so pissed, he actually jumps down in the audience and helps security push the nut cases out the door.)

The fiery image looks healthier than the Pope did, and plus, it's not carrying a cane. So, I'm sorry to have to debunk this sighting.

Is his appearance in flames intended to tell us he is burning in hell for continuing 2000 years of church intolerance?

Maybe it was carrying a cane but the cane lit on fire!!! Huh? Huh!?

You've gotta love religion! I'd imagine that if I were to film a bonfire and played it back frame by frame, I can see all sorts of things. But what does reason have to do with this.

Actually, the fire image AND the pope picture are one and the same: Gandalf!

I'm a huge fan of John Paul the Great! But to me, that's just a coincidence: we WISH he were still alive.
