This is actually a pretty fun idea. Just because there's a Babolat Alliance doesn't mean there can't be a PD club. Let's do this! I'm in.

I have a pd cortex standard. I thought about switching, but know I think I'm going to stick with it. BTW westside, I was thinking about trying that exact same set up you have. I was just a little worried I would have elbow problems. Can you tell me about that setup, and the feel.

Its not arm friendly at all...but i dont have a pd so i wouldnt be able to say about on the pd but considering its pretty stiff it cant be very friendly...

Count me in. I have 2 PDR+ strung with XOne Bi-Phase. Best racket I have ever played with for my game and I have tried them all, literally speaking. I initially resisted demoing the PD since I heard a lot of horror stories about it. But when I did, It was an eye opener. Even my partner, who is loyal player's racket user with advanced strokes, agreed that it's a great stick. Best blend of power, control, spin and touch of any racket, imho. You have to have the right game for it, but isn't that true with any racket? The PD/PDC/PDR is not getting enough respect on these boards in my opinion.

Okay, enough with forum/thread rank and on to serious talk...

I used the PDR for a period and then switched over to the k95 and k90.

Have 'settled' on the k95 but not really happy with it. It hits well and I can handle it well - but for me it's just missing something. For one, they have bad vibration... more so than the ncode 95s

I'm thinking of dusting off my PDR's and riding them for a while. Best serve stick around and at the right tension the groundies are controlled well.

So - I believe I'm back on the PDR bandwagon. BTW... I own 5. But will be adding a bit of lead to the frames.

My setup will follow to the PDR: Signum Pro Hextreme 17 Mains and X-1 Biphase 17 crosses at 64 lbs.

If people want to post what their PDR setup consists of, I think that would be cool. Here's a template if anyone wants.

Racquet:
PDR team standard, 4 3/8 (no overgrip)

String:
Babolat BB original strings ~54lbs

Customization:
6 grams in the head (~3g at 3 and 9, and ~3g and 12) and 3 grams in the handel.

do any of you guys suffer from tennis elbow....but with some sort of string combination or tension or hybrid......you guys don't have problems any more?

I would love to be able to serve and play with the Pure drive.

Willy H.
11-08-2007, 01:25 PM
stringing it with natural gut would be best for preventing tennis elbow. only problem is, it breaks easily and is expensive. if you can dish out the dough, stringing the PD like this should work. i hope you can find a way to be able to use this stick

11-08-2007, 01:48 PM
well how about a soft multifilament like NRG2 or sensation or reflection.

Will having loose strings that are soft not allow me to get the power and spin and pop that I would want from a Pure Drive?

I would like to know if the new cortex racquets are quality manufactured racqs.
A stringer told me that they could crack near the dampener piece. have you heard anything about it?
I'm going to buy a PD and I want to know which is the most convenient.

No problems with either of mine here (PDC+). Ony thing I can complain about Babolat is (if this kind of thing bothers you) that the paintjob seems to be poor quality in the glossy areas. No matter what I do I always end up with paint chips (I dont drop my sticks, or throw them) so its hard to imagine why I do. Apart from this minor complaint, I love them.

i hail the original pure drive without the woofer and with the cool bumper strip with the bumper guard pieces at the 3 and 9 for extra weight, made in taiwan.

Dont know why Bab stopped making them like that... makes it a better racquet by 40 %

the swirly one feels more solid than the newer ones. check eb@y for some... they sometimes have them available. I think Roddick still uses the swirly one underneath the paint

First racquet i demo , and i dont miss my old dunlops anymore :)

i love the head light balance, i suffer a lot from TE and this stick really is soft on the arm, very good feel for the ball.
can place the ball consistetly deep without having to swing like a madmen ( your great grandma must be something, i'm single so ..... )
great on slice and topspin, great on serves
great especially on the volleys , i'm starting to like to volley :)

with other words if i dont perform during the summer tournament season it really is me.
for the moment everything in my game ahs really improved, i'm even hitting down the line BH winners, and ripping BH cross topspins taking my partners 4-5 meters out of the court. setting up the easy kill
AMAZING
