Tom,

Not bad for their respective ages. They will get better, no doubt.

LOL! :D
I know plenty of adult players in the 3.5-4.0 range who could not keep a rally going that long even hitting very easily. Good idea having them hit higher over the net.
Those kids are good.

looks good! is that a volleyball net over the normal tennis net? making sure they get plenty of clearance? their form is great for being so young! how often do they play?

Thank you all again for the compliments. also I would like to hear their weakness. I have been teaching them since 4. I really need some second opnion.

yes, it is a badminton net, i used two tubes to hold it up.

I take them out almost everyday, practising about 1 and hours total for both of them. 2/3 of time we use for ground strokes practise and 1/3 for serve. I am teaching Nina to serve kick and Lily to serve flat due to she is too weak to generate lots of spin. Nina's kick serve gets much stronger and more consistant. but still need improve, will shoot some video for you to give tips on.

Agains, thank you for all.

Yery good. If you want something to work on check out their balance on the fh. For hitting up with topspin balance needs to be a little further back. Left arm is one key, particularly Nina's. Left arm higher will help the balance.

Tom,

Where did you get the idea for the added net height? And what kind of ball are the using - some kind of spongy practice ball?

The set-up you created is awesome! What a great way for kids to learn the game.

The only thing I could see was the girl in pink does a reverse loop in her takeback. She goes down then up. You have to get her to go the other way - up then down. It is crucial to change this for future development. Her strokes and timing look wonderful. You have done a fantastic job.

They're good. Nice idea to use an extra net so they can hit deeply :)

Jco - reverse loop is quite possibly a result of the girl swinging a PDR+!

This was discussed in another thread, and as I watch more footage, i'm still horrified to see an 8 year old girl swinging a frame with that SW.

WOWOWOWOWOWOWOWOW....incredible.

I wish I could keep a rally going that long. that raised net is ingenious as well. They're hitting with topspin already.

They are also adorable. WOW! Good job ;D

Jeff, thanks for the warning, I just noticed that. I have been trying to fix that a while ago, now the bad habit came back. I do not think it is the result of PD+ because my 6 year uses pdR+ without that problem. the video is showing them warm up, they can hit much harder, especially the 8 year one.

As for the net, I had problem when they always want to kill the ball, so I thought of that idea and trying to make them focus on controlling the ball rather than killing, did some research and found that somebody selling that kind net at very high price on the internet, so I made my own, much cheaper.

Uthree, thanks for the higher arm point, trying to fix that too, but still they keep bad habit much easier than good ones.

As for the footwork, I designed a some drills, will shoot some video to show you.

again, thanks. tom

Can they volley?
Yes, they wouldn't use it much in juniors, but the time to teach it is now.

I cannot contain myself; they play amazingly/exceptionally well for their ages! ;) Do you train them regularly, or are they just naturals? ;)

I can already predict a bright future in tennis for them, and you are obviously a great dad to begin with! (I wish I started tennis earlier. [I started around 9 years old.])
