generally for people with your ranking the only option is to call technifibre from what i hear.
if i were you i would spend less time trying to get sponsored and more time improving my ranking. In NC 100 is pretty respectable, but I wouldnt have any illusions of playing college tennis for a good team or anything like that. Just try to improve your game, and play with the equipment you like. I would love to have free equipment, but it wouldnt improve my game. Work on your strokes more than you worry about free stuff.
sorry wrong thread ...........

It depends what type of racquet that you want. I wouldn't choose a racquet that you don't like, that would only make you worse. But if you like Fischer or Technifibre there are options. I got a package from Fischer.

cool,thanks.aeroman what is your rank?

It's 128, though I haven't played a tennis tournament in forever. I really don't think Fischer cares though. 128 in the Mid-Atlantic though. I just played a lot of tournaments last year and I'm losing points faster than I'm gaining them. Anyway I'm about to age up anyways. I've just started swim team for high school, so I don't have too much time on my hands.

i was going to take the vantage sponsorship. but they didnt reply for 6 months. so i just thought, well theyre probably not going to get back to me and i bought new racquets myself. if vantage had gotten back to me quicker i wouldve definitely taken their sponsorship. they shouldnt take so damn long to reply.

But vantage will give anyone a level two sponsorship lol.

get ur ranking in the top 20 in the country. then come back and talk to the company.
Puredrivetennis
11-14-2007, 05:51 PM
top 20 in the country is a little extreme.. many companies will go deeper than that.
Connelly
11-14-2007, 05:52 PM
I always heard top 100 for med sized companies top 50 for large companies and like top 250 for small companies [full sponsorships].

With some companies the regional rep has some leeway/pull regardless of the company policy. It depends on how much the racquet company wants their product to be seen.
In many cases, the smaller racquet companies are more apt to provide sponsorships/preferred player packages - again, depending on the rep in the area. Check Volkl/Becker, Yonex, Dunlop, etc. Don't forget some of the 'online-only' companies like Avery or Vantage.

What kind of ranking do you think you would need in the Southern California Boys division for a player package? Do you think a little bit higher or lower than average because of the amount of players?
chinkypinky
11-15-2007, 04:26 PM
If southern california harder and more competitive than other states/ sections doesn't it make it kind of unfair and harder for someone in socal to get sponsorships/ packages.
Connelly
11-15-2007, 04:41 PM
no because they look at what section you are in.

are you looking for a racquet package or a string package, or both? gamma was good to me, pro supex, ashaway was alright for string.
btw, for those who know about the technifibre one, are any of their racquets good? and how good are the prices on them?

sry to say, but yonex isnt the best idea, cause their racquets are so finely made, from what ive heard, you have to be like top 5 in your section to get a half sponsorship, and top 10 or so to get a full. VERY tough to get yonex.

I don't see why higher ranked players don't go for sponsorships... You at least get a discount and that way you can afford better equipment so you don't have to worry about it later.
KhaosBaseliner are you sponsored by Vantage? If so when did you send in your application?
Connelly
11-25-2007, 05:09 PM
yall do know that anyone gets a lvl 2 "sponsorship" from vantage it is basicly just a discount.
Also to the person who beat #2 in u14's nc are you talking about someone named strong because if you did then you really need to get a sponsorship because he is one of the best in the country and could get a full sponsorship from most any brand [probably any]whenever he wants. just because someone isnt sponsored doesnt mean they couldnt be.also if you feel comfortable whats your name?

From TW we demoed the Tfight 320, Becker, Aerogel, and Fischer Mspeed. The Tfight was hands down the best. My kid has floated up and down from 5th to 9th (always top 10 though) during the year in state rankings and he emailed Technifibre and got it. I thought it was a great deal. I ended up spending $350 for what would have been well over $700 retail. Thats a big time savings for dear old Dad's pocket book :)
Please dont apply just for the challenge of "seeing if you can get it" if you arent prepared to take advantage of the offer if your accepted. If you are a junior talk to your parents first. Demo the racquets and decide for yourself if these racquets will help your game. These racquets are well worth demoing anyway...whether you plan on applying or not. Even if we hadnt got the package we probably would have ended up buying them anyway. We liked them that much.
Good Luck
