Bare minimum 1 per month, usually one a week in late spring through late summer, then a little less frequently other times.

No more than 10. I focus on training and practicing more than excessive number of tourneys. As I get better, I will play more.

I played 2 this year. My only two. Didn't do so well. I'm going to train for my HS season coming in the spring.

I don't plan on playing a lot right now but instead training more since I am still not that good. I played my first tournament in October and plan on playing one this weekend, so I voted 3-5 a year. But, I can see myself playing 6-10 or maybe 11+ a year if I can improve, feel confident about my game, and I can afford the tournament fees then I wouldn't have a problem playing that much.

Dennis Druzhinskys record shows how to play lodda tournaments without spending lotta money I think. He plays in the Eastern USTA Metro in the 14s now but was in the boys 12s. Look at how many he plays or does not play. Wonder if the USTA loves players who pay but do not play.

Don't you think match experience will help you with your HS season?
I play a ton of tourneys, def. over 20 a year.

if you dont play 11 or more tournaments i would say you cant maintain a solid ranking in any thing
unless of course you win sectionals/nationals within those 11

6-10; can't play more because theirs no more than 1-2 tournaments a month here in Washington and the HS season's schedule keeps me from playing tournaments in August through October and in May. If I get injured at the right time, I may only be able to play 4 in a year.
God, I wish I lived in California.
