Hello,

I have a windscreen wiper forehand (i dont follow through round up neck but 1/2 way up chest)

This generates loads of topspin but i realise its the totally wrong technique.
How can i train myself out of this. When i go up round neck the ball goes high in the air and miles out.

Thanks for the tips

Why is that improper technique? That's right technique. Almost all pro (male) players have a windshield wiper motion.

No but when you followe through the ball i end up 1/2 way up my chest and not around my neck.

I don't know how many more people it's gonna take saying "This is NOT improper technique. A large number of pros actually do this" before you realize that there is absolutely nothing wrong with finishing around your chest.

i don't think there is a "right technique"
everyone does something a little different
if what you're doing works for you
keep doing it

i do the same thing you do, yeah its not textbook i guess, but it works for me and if it works for you then just keep using it. i mean federer does it :)

Watching the pros suggests there isn't a single correct finish height for every forehand. Nadal, for instance, often ends up swing the racquet around his head in a way most people associate with the "reverse" forehand, but he also will finish with the racquet across his opposing biceps or waist. Federer will finish high, low, or medium, depending upon what he's doing with the ball.

The proper motion through the hit is the important part of the form. The follow through should be naturally based on what you were trying to do to the ball and how you can de-accelerate the hand safely and in balance.
