this guy plays the ukelele

he is ridiculously talented.

He might be better on the ukelele than hendrix, vai, satriani et al are on the guitar

while my guitar gently weeps:

Well, here's 2 of (arguably) the most influential guitarists of the 20th Century:

Hendrix and Robert Johnson (anything they ever played.)

Repeat topic, yes? Why don't you do a search-there was a long discussion on this very topic a little while ago.

Well, one thing's not up for debate - one of the greatest 5 ever guitar solos in history was NEVER played by this individual! http://i171.photobucket.com/albums/u291/RRohan/john-mcenroe-plays-guitar.jpg

So why not continue the debate using the previous thread (where there are some very interesting and informed opinions)?

The Tele is good, but unfortunately, I've had to put it down for a week or so due to some commitments that have robbed me of the time to do the stuff that counts-i.e. read, watch movies, drink and stay out all night and...study those chords!:)

Alright another DiMeola fan! nice call on Birds of Fire, have you listened to Paco de Lucia, Di Meola, and McLaughlin tear up "Mediterranean Sundance" from Friday Night in San Francisco? I just want to stop playing guitar.

One of my favorites back in the day was "Call it Sleep" by Vai off the album Flexible. All the virtuosity you would expect plus emotion and killer tone.

Actually, there's too many to mention.

There needs to be a thread: "Top 6 guitar solos of all time."

That will be great until someone comes out with the top 7 of all time. What will we do then?!?

That Alvin Lee solo was great, it doesn't get the attention of " Going Home', but still great IMHO. I saw Alvin play that live in what 72' Yikes ! - another great solo ( that i metioned on the old thread) is the George Harrison' solo on " Something" so melodic and perfect. You see youngsters, it doesn't have to go a million notes per second to be good. Man, I'm sounding old....
