and did u guys see the seeds. they're a joke. Harrison isn't seeded, and he's probably one of the best in the tournament.

Seeding should be fairly unbiased and based on several factors: world ranking, national ranking and recent results and is likely done by computer.

#1 seed Fernandes doesn't have an ITF ranking, but that's not surprising as only 18 & under events count for points. Players playing 16s or 14s do not earn ITF points. However, Fernandes easily won the 14s Eddie Herr (2 & 1 over Spencer Newman and losing only 17 games total in 6 matches!) and just got to the quarterfinals of the Prince Cup in the 18s.

Events that are 16s and 14s are not officially ITF events, even if they follow all the guidelines/rules from the ITF. From the USTA Player Development website:
While some ITF tournaments hold events in the 16s, 14s, and 12s divisions, these tournaments are technically not ITF tournaments and earn no ITF points, but have been sanctioned by the Section in which the tournaments are held. These include the Orange Bowl, the Eddie Herr, The Kentucky Derby, and the USTA International Spring Championships.

As for Harrison, his status of being unseeded likely stems from the fact that he doesn't play that many USTA events any more so his USTA national ranking is slightly lower than perhaps it could be. He's been playing ITF events (18s), so may not have as good a win-loss record as some of the other players who are playing regional tournaments

Yea i know what your saying. It kind of sucks though for whatever seed gets christian first, because i think he's definitely one of the best in the tournament.

Actually - kinda sucks for Harrison because if he wins his first match he gets the #1 seed...

I've seen some of the competitors play around my courts. Which is funny because It's kinda far from where I'm at

wow i didn't see that, that does really suck for him. Have you ever seen Fernandes play? How is he? It seems like it should be a really good match.

They signed with IMG to represent them 'professionally'. As far as I know, they will continue to train at Newk's with their father as their main coach.

just to ilustrate what seems to happen ...remember an 80`s song from Aussie group "Men at Work" the lirycs said something like ....."I met a man from Brazil, six foot tall and full of muscles "...that is Fernandes!!!..
Until now playing 12U ,no probl for Christian ,
BUT from 14U, 16U and so on ,size and strenght counts !! i read also that this kid fernandez is playing quite well, deep, good serve ,few unf.errors( C. Harrison is only 13 y.o and he`s not tall i dont know his actual size)...

i saw that coming christians has a nice game he plays very well and agressive ,but right now hes lacking the size ,and in tennis size is a nice bonus,

hes gonna have trouble playing up on a consistant basis he will do well for 1or 2 rounds but will waiste a lot of energy playing up against boys that dont have to move as much, they reserve a lot of energy for deeper in the tourny,he will lack that bonus!

my sons 5'5 1/2 at 11yrs old he was standing next to christian he was probably 5'0 -5'1 ,, he could have a late growth spurt and bloom up around 17yrs old, it happen to me i was 5'3 through high school and hit 5'10 right out of HS

There's a decent picture of Fernandes at the EddieHerr website. He's standing next to the tournament director, who I'd guess is around 5' 9", and appears to be a good 4 inches taller. Spencer Newman is on the other side of the TD and it appears Newman isn't even up to Fernandes shoulders.

Christian, as talented as he is, is probably only about 5' 3", so he's about 10 inches shorter than Fernandes...

I had a growth spurt as well. Was 5'3" at the end of my freshman
year. Grew to 5'9" by the end of the summer. Then slowly grew another
3 inches.

No doubt Christian harrison is a talented player ...lets bet hes gonna get taller and stronger in a few years ...
Back into the tournament , seems like favorites are among: Fernandez , Emmet Egger or spencer Newman from USA and the kid who beats Mika de Coster and B. Fratangelo quite easy ...Diego Hidalgo (ECU) he won also Prince Cup and Eddie Herr doubles....lets see..

this fernandez isnt wasting much energy so more then likely unless he is challenged with a tough couple of matches ,, hes obviusly to big and to strong for the field from what ive read!!! (size is a bonus) as for the 12s i think digulio has the best game suited for the 12s to win it!! most kids are not strong enough to hit him off the court nor can they power their way through him at this time they are all to small still!!
