1) More smilies (and also get rid of duplicate smilies, 4/15 are redundant).

2) Edit the title of a post (or help us build a time machine, to go back to when we posted and change the spelling mistakes).

a "wish list" for the TW main page.

looks like you can now edit the title of threads you started.

Not letting new users start threads. 25 posts or 30 days, whatever comes first.

One week suspensions for people who start a duplicate thread without looking on the first page, or putting threads in the wrong forum when it should be obvious.

I agree. I also think there should be some sort of penalty for people posting threads about how to get a new avatar. Enough already! Perhaps having to wait until 100 posts since they failed to read the FAQ's we are all advised to read prior to registering.

I do believe it's time to consider appointing another Mod if SF is not returning. This is not a call for posters to jump up and yell "pick me, pick me" but a serious request for the admin. With the increasing number of posters and spam such as the porn pictures lately, there is a lot of work for the mods right now. Another mod will hopefully ensure that the forum is being supervised more often (we all realize the mods are doing a great job but they have lives and can only spend so much time on here).

Nothing I can do to you Shaun, it's just an internt forum. :)

Ban people with double accounts. Both usernames. Especially people who get a temporary ban, then come back during their ban with a second account. They're like addicts or something.

Two (well, three really) excellent ideas! Fee, do you know of a mod that you can point this way, to make sure they read this?

How about mods stop deleting posts all the time.

I think both ideas are great, but I don't think that the second rule could be enforced without serious complaining ;)

The first suggestion I think is fair, especially with people signing up and logging in specifically to spam. It's a hassle for new users, but it'd improve our community, IMHO.

Yeah, the FAQ issue irks me a little bit, because a substantial amount of time is (was) spent making them. Another mod would be appreciated, too, IMHO. I've got/had a lot on my plate the last quarter, but I should be around quite a bit more this quarter. Hopefully we'll all be seeing some improvements. KK is responding really fast to reported posts lately, though. Props to him.

I should add/note: We mods don't have much (any) power on the rules/regulations/settings of the board(s), so we can't do anything in that regards. We just try and help with the against-the-rule posts and deletions when appropriate.

How about mods stop deleting posts all the time.
Trust me when i say it'd be nice to not have to. Users break rules so we do our job. If you've got a concern with the between the lines cases, shoot myself or KK an e-mail, we'll be happy to discuss it with you off the board. (seriously)

Hey DD. Don't get me wrong. I think you all do a fantastic job on here. I understand that you all have jobs, family, a life outside of here and can reasonably only be expected to be on here moderating so much a day. I think another Mod would be a benefit to you guys, would be another set of eyes and would ease up the pressure a little. I hope you didn't take my post as anything negative towards any of you. :)

I am not aware of a moderator beyond DD. That just shows how new I am to these boards, in spite of it all.

DD, I was being a bit facetious about the one week suspension for duplicate threads. :)

As for the new users, perhaps their threads could be approved before posting instead of just taking the privilege away. This would have prevented that slew of graphic porn threads we got a few weeks ago, and the other spam that shows up from time to time.

Nope, not at all, I'm definitely open to the idea! I know you're one of the "good `guys`"

;) I know.

That idea is actually a pretty good one... Maybe that would be a nice compromise to our situation, actually. I will make sure one of the admins see this, and get a dialog going between us. I think this might work, but again, it's not up to me :P

Limiting new users to be able to create threads only after a certain amount of posts is not a good idea. This would actually cause more work for the admins and mods as well as make for a messier, disorganized forum. If implemented new users will be either try to hijacking current threads and/or will be spamming threads to get to the magic number to be able to post a new thread. Which will still probably end up being answered: "Use the search engine, fool." Having new threads approved will cause a huge amount of problems as well. People think it is bad how many "Why can't I post my ad" threads thee are now, just imagine how it will be if they have to wait for approval to post in other sections. That is if the new users will stick around to see if the thread gets approved or not. The TW Q/C section will get over run with gear, etc threads with people posting in there because they cannot seem to post anywhere else. If TW makes it too difficult for new users to post then they will just go to other, competitor run, forums.
