I have chronic elbow/shoulder problems. Which gut would work best for me? Please give brand name and recommended gauge. Thank you.

All natural guts are superior as to a dynamic feel and relative softness. IMHO, try the Bow championship - plays very lively , especially in 17. If your frame is not 18X20 pattern, perhaps you should try 16 or 15L. Currently, I enjoy a natural gut mains and alpha 2000 crosses in a modified progressive tension technique in an 18X20 - great on feel and great on joints. Good luck...

I find BDE gut to play extremely soft. About the same as the Babolat, but the lower cost makes it a better value in my book. I agree with Frank. The Alpha Gut 2000 hybrid is very good. If you are not a string breaker you can throw some 18g in the crosses. Sweetness baybee!

For my customers who experience sensation in their elbows, I string using my exclusive "Sweet Spot Enhancement" process, which is my own method of proportional stringing.

According to the USRSA's test data, Pacific Tough Gut 17G is the softest natural gut string.

Gaines, please elaborate. How significant are the differences listed? Thank you.

USRSA uses Babolat VS Power 16g as their reference string for all string comparisons. Pacific Tough Gut 17g has a rating of 91% of the stiffness of VS Power, so it is slightly softer. Klip Legend has a stiffness rating of 120% of VS. By comparison, the softest synthetic string, Ashaway Dynamite 17g has a stiffness rating of 142% of VS.

Gaines has the right facts for you. Coming from someone who has alot of arm and shoulder problems. I would go with either the Babolat VS or the Klip Legend. They both out perform all others and they are easy on the body.
