My dad says there is absolutely no difference between playing indoor and outdoor...
I tell him that I have better control outdoors than indoors...
My dad says I'm making excuses and that I should quit playing tennis?

I don't quite understand what you're asking here.
If you're asking about the control thing, surely the lack of wind indoors would make it easier to control the ball?
If you're asking if you should quit playing tennis, the answer is definitely no!

God, I hate my dad...
And his logic...

I would NOT be complaining about playing indoors. Just keep quiet and let him take you indoors!

I'd love the chance to play indoors one day!

Is this because he doesn't want to pay the costs for the outdoor courts? I'm sure if you calmly explain that you need the experience playing with and mastering the elements so as to have an equal footing with other players (and an advantage on those who only practice indoors) he may see your side. Good luck.

Yes, there is a difference in playing outdoors opposed to playing indoors. Due to the lack of winds, and more varied temperatures due to air and light outdoors can be a bit more difficult to play in. As the conditions indoors are using much more consistent it is usually easier to play indoors.
If you get the chance to play indoors opposed to out doors you are quite lucky. There are many that cannot afford to play indoors. Think of those pour Canadians, some of them only get a chance to really play a few weeks out of the year.
If you are allowing this preference to adversely effect your playing while indoors then that is a mistake. Your love of the game should outweigh any nit-pickiness and you should be glad to play whether you are indoors or out.
That said, if the weather is nice I would rather been outside opposed to indoors as well.

Seriously dude, play indoors if you can. I've never played on an indoor court in my life. That said, a court is a court, I say just go and enjoy some tennis and don't sweat it.

I love playing indoors sooooooo much! That's not to say that I don't enjoy playing outdoors when the weather is right, but there's nothing like playing tennis without any extraneous variables to affect your game.

boojay, you must play indoors all the time. All your youtube uploads show you indoors!
too expensive for me and theres only about 6-8 weeks a year when you can't play outside in this part of Texas.

It's true. I am from the land of ice and snow after all. During the warmer season, I can be found playing outdoors all the time, however. I really enjoy a good breeze and evening tennis as the sun is setting.

I get to play indoors maybe once a week, the rest, I'm staying inside my house because it snows and rains...
No practice+balls are flying indoors=I suck...

indoor surfaces can vary but many indoor courts are faster and the ball skids a bit when it bounces. Such is the case with my college courts.
However your problem could be a mental one. I guess it could also be the sound echoing indoors which can be a hindrance.

i love indoor courts. stupid wind pisses me off. slices go way off, so only topspin works. flats fly like i'm using a pure drive.
i agree, it is all mental. i guess good footwork might make a difference?

If he's serious, about there not being a difference, then he is a clueless idiot. More likely he's trying to make a point that you're a whining twit. Get a grip, stop sniveling and go play . . . anywhere anytime you can.

I like indoors too, I guess I'm just not as mentally tough or physically fit (if I actually have ever been, I don't know what is classified as fit) as I was about 6 months ago...
My dad is way too negative for me to actually have been born using his blueprints...

Who complains about having to play indoors? I don't get it.
Plus, how can you have more control outdoors? Again... don't get it. You hate your dad because he's pointing out that you're being picky about what kind of court you play on? If it's cold outside then what choice do you have?
Sounds pretty spoiled to me. I wish I had someone paying for indoor court time right now.

No, I'm pretty happy I get to play indoors, what I'm really concerned about is his response, from my perspective, he really doesn't want me to play tennis and he's so negative and unsupportive with comments like these...
