View Full Version : Wilson PS 6.6 tour classic = Wilson PS 6.1 tour classic??

I currently play with the old Jim Courier endorsed Wilson Pro Staff 6.6 tour classic racquet. Unfortunately they do not make these racquets anymore and I have only two rackets. I was speaking to a hitting partner of mine recently who stated that the Wilson PS 6.6 tour classic is basically the 6.1...with a tighter string pattern (18x20). Is this in fact the case? I'm asking because I saw a 6.1 racket on **** that's being auctioned off. What's interesting about this racket is that it appears to be a european version which has a string pattern of 18x20. Would this racket be the equivalent to the 6.6???

I thought the Stars & Stripes had a box beam, unlike the 6.1?

Having played with all 3, I'd say the 6.6 is nearer the 6.0 than the 6.1 which is a fair bit more stiff and powerful than the 6.6.
Both 6.6 and 6.0 (95) are 20mm box beam - may even be same mould.
Try the 6.0 95 or the red + black HPS 6.0 Tour rather than the 6.1 if I were you.

Actually they do sell every now and then PS 6.6 stars and stripes. Only recently I saw a 95 being sold (German seller). There is also a 85 version which you see being sold more often.
It makes sense that it is more a 6.0 because the racquet was designed to be endorsed by Courier, who has always played with the 6.0 85.

Actually there is still an auction taking place:
Might be your lucky day? :)

Yeah abcs gets alot of these, he also gets the white versions sometimes too. If you miss out on the auction email him and ask him to keep you in mind next time he gets one.

i agree that the 6.6 stars and stripes is closer to the 6.0 95 than the 6.1. box beam w/ more flex, but tighter string pattern.

Did Wilson make a PS 6.0 or HPS 6.0 95 with a tighter string pattern (18x20)?
