Hello,

I bought a YONEX RQ iS 1 Tour 3 3/4 and the real weight is 332 grms. unstrung when TW is talking about 335 grms. strung, then the normal weight must be 320 grms. unstrung as you can see in the racquet's specifications.

With dampener, overgrip and strings I am talking about 354 grms. Is this normal?. Is there diferent versions of this raquets?.

For me is a surprise beacause I was waitting 320 grms, as the especifications, them the final weight would be with dampener, strings and overgrip like 342 grms.

Anybody can help me?

Thank you

The only way to guarantee the exact weight of your frame is what the manufacturer advertises is to buy a Fischer no-tolerance.

The unstrung weight should be pretty close to 320 grams. Yonex is really good about keeping tolerances tight. If it truly is over 330 grams unstrung, you may want to get a replacement because I'm pretty sure that's way outside of the Yonex tolerance range.

Wait, I just thought of something. Did you replace the stock grip that came on it with something else? If you did that could add quite a bit of weight as the stock grips on Yonex racquets have historically been very light.

I've recently began playing with the RQiS 1. My stock frame (in a 4 1/4 grip) unstrung is 317g. After stringing with a poly/multi it's at 333. After removing stock grip and installing leather with a Yonex super grap overgrip I'm at 354g, 11 pts headlight. May start adding a little lead to get closer to 8-9 pts, but then the swingweight starts to get up there.

Maybe the larger grip sizes are a little heavier than the smaller ones, it is that way with some of the older Yonex frames.

It used to be like that, but Yonex doesn't do that on most of their newer racquets. When they use that weighting system they always specify it and on their website it doesn't state anything about that for the RQiS. The only current Yonex racquet like that is the RDS 002 Tour.

I have three RQiS 4 1/2 grip strung with Klip 17 NG.
They are all 336gm with no damper, just the original grip.

No, I did not replace the grip, I'm talking about the weight with original grip (4 3/8)and with the plastic cover. When I received it, first of all, I took the weight.

Can be possible that the SL spec. are for grip 4 3/8 and UL spec. are for 4 1/4?

No, SL and UL are irrelevant because it's not used in the RQiS series. All the grip sizes are the same weight. Here's a link to Yonex website. You'll notice the RDS 002 Tour is the only racquet with SL and UL weights.

OK they say 320grms. , but in mine raquet, you can red printed on one side "unstrung weight: UL 300-319grms./SL 320-339grms", then, with this, I think the mine is SL because the unstrung weight is 332grms.
I bought it at an official registered YONEX dealer, I'm sure this is not a fake.

Not to hijack this thread, but, how do you like the Klip gut in this frame? What tension? What other strings, if any, have you used in this frame? Thanks.

This does not compute. This might sound silly, but are you sure it's an RQiS 1 Tour and not and RDS 002 Tour? You should post a pic of it and that would probably clear up a lot of confusion.

My racquets:
RQiS tour sticker says average 320gm
RDS 002T sticker has 320-339 gm

Love the klip gut. Used to hybrid, but the poly crosses used to die before the gut mains, so it was cheaper to string all gut. I use 56/54, but have changed to 59/57 recently as a test, and think I like it better.
Soft pocketing string and buttery frame is great for my aging body.
Oh I have also added lead at 3/9.

Yep, that appears to be the case. I did some research on some Japanese sites and it looks like they do have an SL and UL version of the RQiS in Japan. It's kind of surprising to me. Kotzen, it looks like you may have a Japanese SL version of the RQiS 1 Tour. Here's a link to a tennis shop in Japan with the info.
