hey i have several questions regarding the kick serve
1. it seems that i need to hit it with all my might to make my kick serve actually kick. if i dont use all my strength, it would have enough topspin to spin inbut not enough to actually kick. is this normal? or is my technique wrong?
2. people tell me you need to brush up for a kick serve. how come i find it that i get more kick by brushing at a 45 degree angle up/right?
3. how do you hit a twist serve? should i brush more than 45 degrees up/right?

I dont know what degree your suppose to hit, but i can tell you this to nail a twist you should use a eastern backhand grip. It would also help the kicker too =P

kick and twist movement are very similar
for a kick you can brush up .
for tist youwould have to hit from 7 to a 2 oclock on the ball

Brushing at a 90 degree angle would make the serve a topspin serve. You should brush up at an angle to make that kick.

Maybe it doesn't kick because you're not hitting through the ball enough? So you have alot of spin but not alot of pace on the ball.

A lot of people have differing ideas on the twist serve: some say that it is a combination of sidespin and topspin, while others say it is just an inverted topspin (ie, picture topspin, but the ball pictured form above is rotated slightly clockwise).

As a kid, I used to think that the American Twist serve was a reverse slice. That is a slice serve that breaks to the right on impact from the perspective of a right handed server. Tursinov is the only professional I see who will occasionally hit this serve.
Today, "twist serves" are usually serves with a combination of standard slice and topspin, but in which the topspin dominates such that the ball will slightly pop up to the right instead of veering off to the left as in a standard slice.

I've found that my flat serve is occasionally hit with my racquet at a slight angle which induces that kick to the right (I'm a righty). No one touches those serves. I love it.
In response to the op: I have a first serve that might top 130, but my kick second serve is hit with greater racquet speed. When I pulled or tore a muscle in my abdominal region this summer, I continued to play with the injury in a big tournament, and it hurt quite a bit more going for my big kickers than big first serves.
The definitions are the following:
Slice = Natural Curve (left for a righty).
Topspin = .... Topspin rotation.
American twist = Inverse Curver (right for a righty).
Kick usually refers to the effect of topspin, but I'm absolutely positive on the above definitions, maybe not kick.

You know if a twist serve is executed correctly by the bounce. It will bounce opposite the direction of travel. For example, if serving from the deuce court down the tee, the ball will bounce (actually spin) toward the ad court on the opposite side. It makes perfect sense if you imagine which way the ball is rotating if you brush it from 10-2.

I wouldn't post "crap" like that either, he's already posted a video. You're also most likely about to get flamed by most the posters that come by here. Just an FYI.
