View Full Version : SuperBowl??

haven't seen any talk of the superbowl around here which is pretty surprising. patriots look bad, yet are ahead. giants D looks pretty good, but their offense has had some good luck on their side and still can't come up with TDs. hopefully the rest of the game is better than it has been so far.

by the way, brady does not look 100%. he seems to be having a hard time moving around and planting/pushing off his feet to throw the ball with something on it. hasn't been a down field threat. offensive line hasn't looked great either, which always makes a QB look bad.

Giants have been just doing a great job of putting the pressure on Brady. Like everyone said, any great QBs can look average if they get pressures.

Eli and Co...need to step up in the second half. I feel there will be some scoring in the second half.

tbini87
02-03-2008, 04:01 PM
yeah, more scoring to come in the 2nd half.

half time show just started... looks like it will be average, we will see.

The Giants took it to those Patsies. The defense was incredible and kept the team in the game. In the end, Eli made good throws and kept the drive alive. Great pass to Burress.

The Patriots got shell-shocked by the Giants D. Giants just wanted it more. Congrats Giants!

yeah, not to mention their choice to throw a long ball instead of giving their kicker a chance for a 50 yarder on 4th AND 13! i think that was a VERY questionable call.

I told my Pats-loving friend this week that I expected this to be a close contest and NYG played the Pats tough in week 17. I felt teams just bent over and played dead vs. the Pats this year, but felt the Giants were going to lay it all out. I was right about that, while my Pats friend thought it would be a 41-17 rout. Interviewer: Looking back do you think that decision to go for it
on 4th down when you had a chance to kick a field goal
was a mistake?
Belichick: No.

Interviewer: Is it because your team no longer has one of the
greatest clutch field goal kickers of all time?
Belichick: No.

Interviewer: Was it harder to play against your opponents this
year in the super bowl because you weren't able to cheat
as much?
Belichick: No.

Interviewer: Ok. Would you say that not being able to use
a direct surveilance video and audio feed on the opponents
bench and coach, video of their practices and copies of their
playbooks, artificial crowd amplification at key moments,
and radio controlled footballs... this super bowl was a little
tougher to play?
Belichick: No.

YOU GUYS (considering this is a TENNIS BOARD), ARE AWESOME.

BABBLING..........

As a New Yorker, and as someone who was obviously rooting for the "Jints" to win (the TOTALLY CLASSLESS 1972 MIAMI DOLPHINS PRE/POST-GAME COMMENTS NOTWITHSTANDING), I am, from a prognostication standpoint, CLUELESS!

I picked with my "head" and called it in favor of the Pats 38-14. That said, after the game, it was great reading (on this TENNIS board) a number of insightful comments (e.g., Eli=MVP; that's a given, being that he's the QB: Coughlin could've given the "game ball" to the Jints' "D" line)

One other thing: a (previous) poster said that he was a 'Pats' fan and still gave props to the New York Football Jints....you (et al) are a pretty "classy" bunch o' dudes.

David Tyree's catch has got to go down as one of the most incredible catches in Super Bowl/NFL history. Granted, Lynn Swann's catch was awesome, but consider "both ends" of that play: how the HELL did Eli escape??.....then get his "bearings" after becoming within an eyelash of being clobbered....settting himself.....and then firing a bullet downfield to David Tyree who made a catch that--this year--was the greatest "HELMET" catch that ranks right up there vs. that Alabama receiver's catch--but we're talking Super Bowl).

*** Why didn't (in a a warm-weather climate/"good conditions") didn't Bellichek (sp?) go for a 49 yd. field goal?

*** What about that "challenge" ???? That is: you who "follow" the game --- who caught Bellichek's little side line punt-pirouette--- will know WHAT play I'm talking about???

4th and 1 (i.e. *the winning drive*)
: the Giants pounded the ball off right tackle--"we're running THERE--stop us!" ........ first down.

tbini87: you (too) played football? Ask yourself this: granted, "ELI" ain't Payton .... not yet .... if ever .... but consider this: Eli's "Super Bowl run" (as a visiting wild card team) involved 3 games on the road versus teams that were favorite. Consider this:

2007: Peyton Manning: 2007 Super Bowl MVP "RUN" : 3 TD's'; 7 INT's
2008: Eli Mannng: 2008 Super Bowl MVP "RUN" : 6 TD's; 1 ("tipped-should-have-been-caught-pass by an otherwise 'clutch' rookie wr) INT

(btw, Smith--2nd round ROOKIE--along with RB Bradshaw, TE Boss, Smith "clutch" USC WR......et all....nice "draft" Mr. GM)

Rickson: Homis, you consider yo'self a NY'er????????????????????????????????????????????? ?????????????????????????????????????????????????? ??????????????????????????????????????shaaaame on you . It's a NYC "thang"

LAST COMMENT: Billecheck (Pat's coach) is a former NY Giants defensive guru, and a coach who's genius is beyond reproach. His "adjustments" (or lack of), didn't really come into play. Er,,,,,TIKI: maybe your FORMER coach (Tom Coughlin) OUTCOACHED THEM.

Jeremy Shockey: Kevin Boss. Jeremy: STFU. (this from a former Miami Hurricane), Granted, the Pats' safeties totally gave up "the middle" and didn't give the 'Jints' TE the consideration that they would have given Shockey, but then again, coach Coughlin's coaching staff picked that up---hardly being (sorry Tiki) "outcoached."

Lastly, way before we were all around: there was a NYC QB by way of Ole Miss named Charlie Connerly. Somewhere....Charlie's smiling. Hello, #42~! Props, pops~!

To the "casual" (no rooting interest) fan: this was a game--imho, if you've ever played football---that was played on a VERY high level. Where where the crushing holding penalties on 3rd and 8????....where were the 'crucial' dropped passes on 3rd and 5???" Yes, there were SOME balls that could've/should've been caught in certain spots, but overall?????

Considering the fact that this WAS the Super Bowl, a well-played game.

DAVID TYREE: AN UNLIKELY SUPER BOWL HERO; hell of a play by ELI. ........ how the hell--TENNIS PLAYERS!!!---- did he hold onto the ball---given what was on the line.

This wasn't 15-love; this was his A _ _.

(here's where I get 'slammed': football vs. tennis---night and day--by "OJ Simpson" Univ. "non-noter-doeter" fans---lol~! it's all good--lol)

Finally, Justin Tuck: Yeah, I've heard the NOTRE DAME SUCKS! sentiments throughout the year but........Justin Tuck (ND) ---left South Bend "early" was going to be projected as a "TOP 5" pick--- what a bargain for the Jints---- was getting an "IV" (throughout the 2nd half--was pulled off the field for a spell during the 4th qtr.---and yet, there he was: creating havoc). Michigan lost to Appalachian St. at the "big house" then got jacked by Oregon---Lloyd Carr to be fired. Giants lose to to Dallas then Jeremy Shockey takes a 15 yard penalty that turns a Giant vs. Green Bay in game #2 (of the regular season) into a runnaway defeat...... Long story short: BOTH teams rebound; Lloyd Carr retires to a (well-deserved) "round-of-applause" after doing a great job running-the-schedule and kicking butt in their bowl game........and Tom (Boston College), i.e. Mr. 0-2 who was dead-to-rights after the Green Bay game (regular season=game 2).... the 'creme" in this case, rose to the top....

No 'tweak to Euro "futball" fans but: gents..respectullly, it's night and day .... and I can't see (as athletes) how you can't see the (again, imho) the obvious.

Micheal Strahan (another ND stud) --eat me Rabbit! -- Justin Tuck played a hell of a game

RANDY MOSS SHOWED CLASS--NEVER LIKED HIM beofre this season: NOW (before this game), I THINK HE'S GOT (upstairs) "THE MOVES." Class comments from a future "1st round" Hall of Fame player. Asante Samuel (Pats): "quiet" GREAT game. Again, the NYG "D" line (and LB's): Mike Strahan....Justin Tuck.......Pats may've put too much focus on Osi (other NYG DE pass-rushing monster)

from a "performance" standpoint, I thought it was a great game.

Listening to his post-game comments--especially after losing an opportunity to complete a "perfect season," TOM BRADY showed that he is....even to this "N.Y.'er" fan, a winner. What a class act. Again, Randy Moss' post-game comments: class act as well. I hope he does get a 'ring' before he hangs 'em up.
