Good idea to have a directory. :)

Clan Warfare (http://tt.tennis-warehouse.com/showthread.php?t=173154) sounds fun, but not exactly a club of like minds regarding tennis styles.

However, although not officially called “clubs,” I must mention these two Ross K threads . . .
since he was, in essence, ahead of the curve:

Calling all two-handed backhanders! (http://tt.tennis-warehouse.com/showthread.php?t=116118) 1/31/07

Ironically (and I’m sure you’ll understand), I was hoping nobody would join me, so I could remain true to my deep-seated belief system. The only workable solution would be for you, and anyone else interested in secretly “joining” my mythical and member-less club, to post a detailed testimonial professing your emphatic disdain for clubs, chant whatever twisted incantation suits your visualization of the non-event . . . and then proceed to leave me alone.

Welcome!

Just don’t go secretly shaking my hand in public, or while I’m not looking. We need to set some well-defined stealth boundaries here. And if you think you DO possess the rarified qualities required to NOT be associated with me (and the “Others”), STATE THEM NOW . . . or forever hold your OWN shaking “clubby” hand.

My hope is that our non-society, consisting of those free spirits not willing to join the group consciousness of any association, will attract non-members who thrive beyond the illusion of shelter and the sense of unsubstantiated correctness found in large numbers of fellow pledgelings.

Amen!

Some of these club names are comical and the content even more comical. The short person's club doesn't know what height is the cutoff for being declared short, yet you have 6'2" guys asking for membership...LMAO Then again there was a thread where a guy said he would rather be short than tall, so it figures the short people would do anything to stand out. :P

Why don't you list the threads by popularity? For example, OHBS number 1 and the 2hbc number 2 etc..

Mountain Ghost
02-08-2008, 12:24 PM
The DIRECTORY is not going to keep “score” and will not be measuring the amount of in-club traffic occurring anywhere.

However, a very good way for any club founder to demonstrate the “popularity” of their club would be to regularly edit and to update the club’s ORIGINAL and Founding Post (#1) with a CURRENT LIST of the club’s membership. That way, viewers can quickly and easily (click on any link to) see HOW MANY MEMBERS a club has.

Clubs will continue to be listed in the order they were founded, but you are welcome to (judiciously) use this thread to announce any bona fide milestones your club may have reached.

**** FOUNDERS ALERT ****

Dear Club Founders,

For the betterment of all societies involved, and to ensure that neither the DIRECTORY, nor any club listed in it, gets forcibly exiled to the Odds & Ends (or any other) Category of the TW Talk Tennis forum, I encourage you to promote club activities that are relevant to Tennis Tips & Instruction. This could be as simple as adding “How To” dialog to your regular gregarious banter.

The Directory “Management”

Mountain, don't worry about a thing. This directory was founded for the clubs in this section of TW. I know some people went astray by making some non tennis related clubs in the tennis tips section, but I believe the best home for this directory is right here. If any admins or mods are reading this thread, we believe the directory belongs here and nowhere else.

LMFAO! Is that all you've got? Try the first tennis tips thread with over 1000 posts. You're trailing big time, son, big time.

Post count means practically nothing. Men outnumber women here, yet the Girls Only thread has nearly 2000 more posts than the Guys Only thread. Besides, I'd rather have a close-knit thread than something huge with information/propaganda/bashing scattered all over the place (a problem for both backhand clubs especially the OHBS).

You founded a club for the Semi-Western Grip while I created the Cheap Players Club. Considering the SW grip is the most common grip and the CPC caters to a certain bunch (started 4 days after your SW grip club) one would think your thread would be more popular. Yet look at the post count 2/23/08 10:30AM PST: CPC 203, SW 135.

I basically jump-started a dormant club movement while you added fuel to the fire. For that we both deserve recognition for getting posters more involved and participating in discussions more actively. We disagree on practically everything, but we can agree that TTWers are generally glad we promoted the rise of the clubs and societies.
