So, this is what the offspring of the legendary Bjorn looks like? Totally threw me for a loop when I saw Robin in Tennis Magazine a month ago...

Would have thought he appeared a little more fit....

Amazingly, he can hold his own. I'm surprised, considering his build at 6 feet and 200 plus pounds...

^^^haha, yeah, i totally agree there. If bjorn borg were my dad I would have to live up to his name. If that guy is bjorn borg's son is this guy John Mcenroe's Son?

here's another article on borg: http://www.uww.edu/marketingandmedia/news_releases/2007_03_robin_borg.html

He doesnt play in Div 1, the person in the article Sonkin is the one ranked in the top 100 and Sonkin beat Borg.

The eyes look just like his dad. Small and close set. He also looks like any number of *******ern fratboys and HS football players, too.

I'm guessing he is between 230 and 240. The author was being kind and understated his weight when he said "over 200 pounds". Much of that is muscle, though, I'm sure.
I bet Robin will have injuries at that weight, either soon or in his 30s.

D III school, os Bjorn's probably paying full tuition plus room and board. Nice he didn't have to sell a trophy for that out of state tuition bill.

^^^240 is an understatement. i would say 260

Im pretty sure the long haired guy was Drakulie. I think he used to wear his hair long. It also looks like him because that is exactly how Drakulie hits his backhand...also it was his pre-Oscillate days and I have heard he used to wear BB sneakers.

Yes 260 still may be under doing it, but he is around there.

Whitewater plays some of the teams around here, so Ive seen him play. He plays a very aggressive game off the ground going for alot on the forehand, and his serve is very big. Obviously he doesnt move real well, so this hurts him once he runs into another good player. But he definitely has alot of skill. He had a close match with Sonkin, which shows he can play.

Im not really sure why he decided to go to Whitewater of all places though, originally he was supposed to go to Alabama I guess from what the TENNIS article said.

Robin Borg reminds me of Peter Lundgren when he was coaching federer. Lundgren was also a hefty fella when coaching fed back in 03. I saw him practice w/fed in person at the TMC 2003 here in houston. He was very hefty but could hold his own and had some amazing feel and ball striking ability.

In the first picture he looks like one of the entrants in the World's Strongest Man competition. Seems like a lot of those guys are Scandanavian.

Come on, man, he is a very good player. Of course he'll get sets off his dad. The guy's well over fifty.

He plays for Warhawks in some college in Wisconsin. Robin Borg, not sure how much he has in his trustfund.?? But he is not joining the ATP tour, that is for sure. He would have made a better lineman in his college football team:(

Yes, I have. In fact, I have practiced with Borg and some of his contemporaries. He is good, but no longer amazing. I also hit with some good college players, then and now.

Robin Borg, if he's playing close with ranked DI guys like Sonkin, is the same level, though it is a completely different kind of tennis.

I'm not saying he's the 2nd coming of his dad (the closest thing to that is Federer). I'm just saying he probably would play close with his own father and beat him occasionally.

Like, if they played four days in a row, I'm pretty sure the younger legs would have an edge, even if the kid is a step slower than he should be....or two steps slower than his own dad.

Two of the guys I play with have sons on the team. I was talking with one of them when Borg was in town a few months ago and he said there was quite a bit of hype in the surrounding area (which is in the middle of nowhere). Another guy I play with sent over a Borg pic to get it signed - he wanted to send over a Donnay but thought it would be tacky.

I guess Bjorn's son is really a big kid and more of a power player.

As far as that goes, Id take Bjorn over Robin pretty much anytime. Robin is pretty good but not especially, and Bjorn, as was mentioned before, still plays very well.

I'm a 4.5 and coached my Mel Purcell who was a former number 17 in the world and is 49 and getting a set off of him is hard as hell. Play a former top 20 in the world when they are under 60 and coach tennis all day long and fit as hell and see what it takes to get a set off them. No way a 260 pound fella is gonna get a set off Bjorn Borg!

I met Robin at one of my tournaments. He was friends with one of the tournament directors. Nice guy and he has a nice game. He plays for D3 UW Whitewater.

saram, if you are a 4.5 and can get a set off Mel Purcell (yes, I remember him from when he played) either he isn't really trying or his game has completely fallen apart - maybe due to injury or just that he doesn't work on it AT ALL anymore. 5.0s get smoked by ex-pros 10 years or more older than him.

No, but I'm pretty sure they are related somehow. I think all the Purcells are related in Kentucky. LOL I've met his father and he's a very nice guy, real down to earth. He's maybe a 3.5/4.0 player. His mom is also very nice, she's a pediatrician that has treated my daughter before.

Collin played in the Kentucky State Closed this year and was heads and tales above everyone in the tournament. He won the singles and doubles with ease. Not sure if he's trying to play professionally or not. I think I heard someone say he was still training somewhere and hoping to play some pro tourneys.
