After you hit the ball as you follow through be it over your head or shoulder, turn your hand as if you're looking at your watch to see the time.

Not a fantastic explanation, i'm sure others can give you better advice.

Look at fuzzy yellow balls explanation:

http://www.fuzzyyellowballs.com/index.php?col=260821 for the video and

http://www.fuzzyyellowballs.com/forehand_step_1.php for the text.

Will explains and demonstrates pretty clearly.

Actually a great way to put it!

Have a look at frames 2 and 3 below...

The pronation is where the arm/forearm rotates so that the palm faces away from the body with the thumb down.

You can't teach pronation this way Ash, I'm surprised at you.

Just try and hit the ball square and the amount of pronation that occurs will be the amount that is natural for your grip.

I'm not saying this is the best way to teach pronation - in fact I don't think i've ever 'taught' pronation per se, I was simply trying to find a simple way of explaining/illustrating it to the OP.

It's nice to surprise people BeHappy - much more exciting than being predictable!!!

What if the op wears his watch on the palm side? He'd be supinating.

What if the hitter wears a sundial on this wrist...a wristdial if you please...then he won't be able to tell time...no no no...this is a bad idea...

You are actually correct Ash_Smith. The photos you displayed clearly show pronation occuring. The trick is that it would be hard to explain because the photos are hard to see.

But if you look close you can see the forearm and the palm moving toward pronation.

Also, I agree with you that pronation is something I dont teach either. If you give a player three points in the swing, pronation will occur naturally. It is simply educate, demonstrate, and let them try. The word pronation is never used.

BeHappy is not correct in his assumption about your frames or his analysis of what you were trying to do. It was pretty easy to figure out what your intent was.

I'm not coming in to side with anyone but I like this point you made very much, Be. :) Before this, I would make a point of pronating and now I see that it's all wrong.

That is a good point isn't it.
