So yea, I was stringing my racquet the other night, and while doing my mains, i noticed a really unusual creaking sound coming from the frame. After I finished my mains, i checked the mounting, and I realized I mounted incorrectly at the throat :(

I re-adjusted the mounting, finished the crosses and then checked the frame...I found a hairline crack at the throat. It doesnt seem too deep, but Im not sure if it is affecting the structural integrity of the frame or not.

Is there any way to check if the frame is okay?

Doesn't look so bad, but I'm not exactly the best at identifying these kinds of things, so feel free to disregard this comment...

Only way to really know is to x-ray your racket...any of your friends dad a doctor?

I'm kidding. Really, it does not look to bad.

its nothing - just paint crack.

In other words, nothing's going to happen. If you want, you could fill in the paint crack with a marker if you want. But nothing underneath is affected.

If I were you, I probably apply a thin coat of clear finger nail polish in order to prevent the paint crack from spreading further, similar to prevent crack from spreading in windshield. Hopefully, there's no crack in the structural.

How does it feel when you hit with it? How did you mount it incorrectly at the throat?

I havent got a chance to hit with it yet...

As for mounting, I have a Gamma X-2. On the X-2, there are these plastic supports that are supposed to sit flush with the inside of the head, but as i was adjusting the top of the racket mount, I didnt realize the racket jumped on top of the plastic support. Therefore, it was laying on top of the little plastic piece instead of on the actual throat mount.

I think your frame contracted HIV

...ewww
anyway it looks like a paint crack as opposed to a graphite crack. now if this was like a granny stick then those things are super light and super prone to crack. but a solid frame like this usually doesn't crack so easily.

UPDATE:

so, I got a chance to hit with my racquet the other day, and it just didnt feel right. Its an RDS001MP so its fairly stiff, but when i was hitting with it, it felt really flexy. I had to try extra hard to hit a flat shot.

Im gonna give it a go for another few days to see how it turns out...hopefully its just the stringing instead of the racquet.

Thanks everyone for your replies!

make sure its not in your head and ask a buddy with an RDS 001 to hit with yours and see

see i thought that too. but i put a string setup i had been using for over 4 months. its possible the stringjob made them feel weird. Thats why im going to give it another few tries.
