Hi all,

I'm experimenting a Natural/Synthetic Gut hybird on my rdx500mp.

Main - Babolat VS Natural 16,

Cross - Yonex Tournament 80 Spin 15L-16g

If I strung the mains at 58lbs, how much for the crosses? The recommended tension on the frame is 50-60.

Thank you.

I would go 5% less for the crosses. I have done that on my Yonex frames forever and have not had a problem. It seems to increase the pocketing a bit.

Synthetic gut is better than multis for the crosses right?

The Yonex Tournament 80 Spin has inconsistent gauge: 1.28-1.38mm, would that cause an increased sawing effect on the mains?

Can anyone tell me if this string would kill the gut mains faster than normal 1.30mm synthetics?

Cannot answer your question on Yonex Tournament 80 Spin.

However, I have VS Gut 17 in the mains at 55 and Topspin Cyber Flash 17 (1.25) at 51lbs in my RDX500 MP's and as well as RDX500 Mid's and they feel great.

In my RDS001 Mid's (which I no longer have), I had VS Gut 17 in the mains at 57lbs and SPPP 1.18 at 52lbs and I thought the stringbed felt stiff (could be because of the racquet) and not w/o much feel (could be because of the SPPP).

Hope this helps.

If you ever want to sell your RDX, I'll buy it =)

I string at 57/55 and this tension works fine for me.
