So I ordered some RIP Control 17, and ignorantly assumed that it was like 1.24 or 1.25 mm. After ordering, I learn that the 17 gauge is 1.20 mm  ! What the heck? I'm going to shred that up in less than a week, and my original purpose in trying the RIP Control was for durability! Sigh...

That's non-standardized measurements for you. May as well damn shoe manufacturers while you're at it. They are all on my hit list until they con agree on some standards. :D

I love 17g strings--more bite and control. I can't wait to move to 18g, or even 19 gauge.

In a hybrid job with a poly they'll never move, and thus will last a long time. (But I would call 1.20 17L.)

and here I thought people did not care about gauge

I always have the opposite problem of ordering 18g thinking it is thin, low and behold some labeled 18g string are micing in at 1.25mm

The polylon 17 that I use for most customer's hybrids is 1.24. Looks like basically 16G to the naked eye....

Rip Control frays pretty quickly as well...sorry, but it does. Great feel and nice and soft for a while--but frays all to quickly for me...

I have rip control's on my liquidmetal 4 which is my #4 racquet, haha. I used it out last week with the rip's for the first time and they are already visibly wearing after 2 hours play.

Gosh dang it. Maybe since my order is being delayed I can cancel the string part of it... but I still need strings. Jo11y recommended the RIP as one of the most durable synthetics. Anyone else have suggestions? I would try Spiral Flex, but I'm not ordering from that place, and don't like paying extra shipping when I only need one pack of cross strings.
