Hey guys,
On average, how far would you say pros stay behind the baseline during a rally......3 feet, 6 feet, 8 feet? How far back would you guys say Fed plays? Thanks!

On offense, you should be trying to get as close to the baseline as possible. If you're counterpunch or a more defensive player, you'll tend to play farther away from the baseline. It also depends on the surface. You'll want to stay further back on a clay court.

Agassi was known for hitting on the rise inside the baseline. Federer usually stays right around the base line or 1-2 ft behind. Nadal tends to stay up to 3 or more ft behind, although he's been working on closing in on the harder surfaces.

on clay courts, they stay 6-8 feet behind the baseline. that is why rafa is so effective with his drop shots.
