I use a continental grip and have a good motion with decent enough power. But more often they land two or three feet long. The one thing i do and it is a bit better, if i conciously over exagerate the wrist snap at contact point is thus ok to do?

toss less into the court or put more leg drive into hitting the ball upwards.

ilovecows is recomending hitting the ball with more spin, which works, but if you want to try to get your flat serve in more, you need to throw the ball more in the court. Usually its the flat serve that goes out long that much.

The serve going long is usually a sign of the toss being too close. If you toss farther into the court, you might do better on those serves so give it a try.

Maybe for mere mortals. I am posessed of great talents that allow me to hit any one of my 4-5 types of serves several feet out!
On a more serious note, in addition to the previous comments, one thing I would add would be to make certain that you are hitting the ball at full extension. If you let your toss drop too low before you hit it then you will be pushing the ball long so it will be going slower and outer than if you hit it at the top of your reach. Really go up and attack the ball.
