Down the line and crosscourt, basically.

Not exactly.
Inside out or in refers to a shot you hit when you are on the opposite side of the court to the stroke you are hitting.
So if you are right handed, and you hit an inside out forehand, you would be on the left side (backhand side) of the center hash, and hitting the ball to your (right handed) opponent's backhand side. If you hit that same shot, to your opponent's FH side, that would be inside in.
Basically an Inside shot is one where you hit the ball with the wing that is towards the center hash mark, not the wing that is towards the sideline.

That is an inside out forehand , inside in, would go to to the opposite corner of your opponents court. The same can be done with backhands, just happens from the opposite side of the court.

Yeah, that's kind of what I meant. I just wasn't sure how to explain it, that's why I said "basically."

Inside out is when you run around your backhand, and hit a forehand cross court. Inside in is the same, except you hit down the line.

^^^ You don't necessarily have to run around it either, you just need to be standing there for one reason or another ;)

mannn, when i hear people saying stuff like that, inside in, inside out, thats when i just yell out of frustration "shut up and hit the ball!!" :-)
but J011YROGER, good pic above, really does illustrate what they meant :-)

just to make sure i got this straight, inside in is always (in golf terms) pulling the ball. and (in golf terms again) a push would be a inside out. so a right handed player would always be hitting the ball to his left for a inside in and to his right for an inside out?
thank you all for helpin me with this

on a FH yes, and as long as he was on the backhand side of the court. If he hit a FH to his left from the FH side of the court, then it would be a crosscourt FH not an inside in, and if he hit it to hit right, from the FH side, it would just be a DTL FH.

wow now i think im a little confused about somthing. so the inside in and out with a forehand only refers to shots from the backhand side of the court???
and if u go to the like i put on my last post, then why would inside in and out be so important for nadal's forehand around the body (wouldn't it be the same mechanics whether or not he is on the forehand or backhand side of the court???)
