Just out of curiosity, I would like to find out the percentage of the folks here at TW board that use standard vs extended length racquets.

So, everyone, please take part in this survey! Cheers! :)

I *hate*...no *HATE* extended sticks. My Fischer Pro Extreme FT's are really only about .125" difference.

Yikes! Forgot that some Fischer sticks come in at 27.4". Folks, please hit the 3rd choice if you fall into this category...

I play with the 27.5" Prince NXG OS. Craig, How could you hate extended sticks? I love the added leverage.

Played the chang longbody for a few years and like the extra power for serving and groundies but volleys and body shots were really a handicap for quite awhile. Im now happy to be back to standard lenght sticks and have no plans to change.

My nSix-Ones are a little under 27" (but not much!)

Head Instinct XL is 27.5", Volkl Cat 1 27.75". After lowering the tension to save my elbow, the extra length really allows much more spin on serves and groundies.

I play 27''. I've tried 27.25'' and I didn't think it made much of a difference.

el_mago, never felt comfortable with them. They feel awkward in my hand... I'm only 5' 9", so I'd benefit, but I just can't get comfortable, especially w/ a 1-hand BH. Even though my Fischers are just a smidgen longer than 27", I can feel it every now and then on the backhand side.

I agree with Craig that Fischer's frames are not really 27.4
I play with some older Fischers and they are supposed to be an extra 1.5 cm but are actually just longer than 27"
Maybe this means that regular length Fischers are actually shorter than 27"

I started on stretch sticks when began to play six years ago. I went standard about a year and a half ago and haven't looked back.

the regular length fischers are often not a full 27 inches...fischer needs to invest in a better ruler. i know the pro1's are usually a little under, and i have seen + length frames from Fischer that measure about standard length.

LOL! I guess their measuring acumen is fishy.

It's good to see experimentation going on, trying different lengths and all, and finding the length that one is comfortable and plays well with. Personally, I've tried 28": great for baseline and serves but not at the net (too cumbersome/unwieldy). 27.5" seems to work best for me. I get that extra pop and leverage on serves. Very important as serves are my first line of attack. Works well with DBH too. Net play has become a strength too but I think that's because my volleying technique has improved. Won't be going back to 27". BTW, I'm 5'9", switching from Yonex MP Tour-1 XF to PK Ionic Ki 5X.

Keep participating folks! Thanks!

This is rather surprising, with 63 "voters" so far, it's just over 65% for standard length sticks. I would have thought the figure would be closer to 80%. Interesting!

El Mago,

I have an NXG OS 4 3/8 in vg shape for sale if you want another one.

Bob,

That would be perfect. I am using that same grip size on the racquet now. I will email you.
