Don't worry, it's happened to most of us I'm sure; didn't exactly happen to me but a friend of mine was playng doubles recently; was up 5-0 in the third, and then proceeded to lose the next 7 games. There, go figure, that's tennis....

I was up 6-2, 5-2. At the changeover, the guy says, "Ok, here we go -- 5 straight games." I just laughed.

The next game, I'm serving at 40-30, match point:

I break a string on a first serve and it goes long.

It turns out that my backup racquet that was strung that morning was strung poorly by the shop, so that the mains were way too loose, and the hoop was stretched over 1/2" longer than normal. It played like a trampoline-like rocket-launcher, and I could no longer hit a groundstroke in play.

So I lost the next 5 games just like my opponent predicted. And then lost 6-2 in the 3rd. It was humiliating.

I'm a pretty bad singles player as far as the mental side of the game goes. I have had a few matches where I literally lost every point to unforced errors. I have like 4.0-4.5 groundies and can rally with pretty much anyone I've ever come into contact with, but I have got a serious case of the jitters.

My first tournament last August... Not enough people signed up for U14 so it was consolidated to U16/18 (can't remember). I came up against this older kid who hit topspin like I'd never seen before. I had never come across a player with so much kick on his forehand and serve. I was taken aback and lost the first set 6-0... I did better in the second but lost it 6-2 with some close games.

I hit around 3 double faults per game today...I really wanted to shoot myself in the head, like seriously.

I was recently in a city wide tournament for school. Got through the first day without dropping a game in all 3 matches. Needless to say, I was pretty proud of myself. Then the semis and finals were the next day. I had to play this guy who's brother has won the state of NM the last 3 years and will win it again this year. The guy who I played was unstoppable. 6 - 0, 6 - 1 going as hard as I could on every point.

also, i had won 22 straight points to go up 5-0, 30-0, and tragically i lost a point so final points score was 24-1 and 6-0 (games)

Then why is your record something like 0-15 within my thread. So are you lying here or in my thread for 2008 results?????

Well I had 2 bad losses on the same day. I was at a Junior Tournament and In my 1st round match I played the top player from a nearby school. I won the 1st set 6-4, holding all my serves. Then in the 2nd set he got better and won it 4-6. We went to a Supertiebreaker for the 3rd set and I lost 8-10.

Later that day...I was in the Consolation Championship and I had to play a 2 singles player from a far away school. I won the 1st set 6-2 with pure domination. Then IT happened...the Cramps! I was struggling just to walk around. The "medical person" (not a doctor) came out and said I could STOP PLAYING if i wanted. There was no way i was giving up! I lost the 2nd set 1-6. Man he smoked me...In the 3rd set I lost 7-10 (supertiebreaker).

Never play 3 Supertiebreakers in 1 day, thats what I learned that day.

-I won my 2nd match in tiebreak so 1+1+1=3 :)

I won the first set 7-5, went down in the 2nd 4-6, then took a 5-1 lead in the third. Had 3 match points. Blew them all. 3 hour first round match. I was so angry I didn't go to consolation

In a 7-5 7-6 (4) loss of mine, I was serving for the second set twice. Both times I was up 40-15. I had the kid too. Pretty ridiculous, but at least it was a good match.

One match i lost was a little strange: first set i won 6-2 second set i lost 6-0 and in the supertiebreaker i lost 12-10.

well I got to the final of my first tournament (admittedly playing at top end of a 4yr age bracket) dropping 2 games in 6 matches. Win the first set of the final (short sets due to lack of time) 4-0, then go down 6-4, then after acing him on 3 of his match points and finally getting my own, I go down again, losing 0-4,6-4,6-5(10). I actually cried.

I played against the worst school in our division today against a pusher. Not a good one even, just a kid who decided to go to target/walmart and buy a racquet to join the school team. I got bageled by him. I double faulted like 80% of my serves, I missed 75% of my shots. I literally wanted to give up tennis today. ): Worst game of my tennis career so far.

MY worst loss.
playing a guy who i could so beat in one of my favorite tournaments.
Up 6-3 4-2 and he came back.......
I felt so stupid
then we went to a third set
6-6
then he was up in the tiebreak and the umpire made a really bad call.
he said he was up 5-1 when it was really 4-2 (me being down)
so i argued with him saying i even stated the score, and the OTHER stupid head said i didn't when i DID.
then my confidence was thrashed and he won the tiebreak 7-1 (should of been 2)
and if it would of been 4-2 and the umpire was gone i would have came back.
CUZ that is how i play tiebreaks.
I WAS SOO MAD.

tennis is such a mental game.
If i had some more mental toughness i would be on the top.
But hey that's what improving is.
I got groundstrokes, a great serve for my age, and i have some good approach shots.
I just need some mental toughness, and some better volleys.
And also maybe a tad better backhand technique. like i hit it really well but when i hit it I tend to go upwards after.
but it's all about balance and footwork, which i could improve on that too.

I don't know if it was my worst loss ever but it ranks up there. I had a matchpoint on my serve and blew the game. Then we went into a tiebreak and I lost 7-5. It seemed that every ball he hit later on the 3rd set and tie break got a piece of the line, even his serve on match point hit the line. It was unbelievable and almost unreal on how I lost that match but oh well, there is nothing I can do about it now besides take a few Tylenol's to relieve my massive headache from this match.

My story:
I was up 6-0, 5-0 and 40-love, then lost 7 games in a row after being up 40-love in 5-0, 5-1, 5-2, 5-3, 5-4, 5-5, and 5-6.

3rd set I was up 5-0, 40-love again, but it went to tiebreaker.
We decided to play a super tiebreak and I was up 9-0 but then lost 11-9.

I quit tennis...

My worst was yesterday. I was playing a kid I knew I was better then, and so did my coach. I was up 2-0, he came back 2-2. I was up 4-2, he came back 4-4. Finally he went up 5-4, and then I went up 6-5. We went into a tiebreak, and I had 5-1. It wen't to 6-6, and he one two straight points after I hit it into the tape in the same exact spot.
I broke down on the spot, and got so angry, I just wanted to quit all together. I uess that ho tennis is, oh well.

ohh, too very sad losses for me.

One was against a nonconference school early in the season.
Won the first set 6-4. Lost the second set 2-6. no clue how it happened. I planned on me and my partner giving them hell in the third, then bam, I gotta play a 3rd set super tiebreaker cus the other coach wants to just finish out the matches. Lost 4-10.

Then, last tuesday this week, I lost the first set 1-6, then 7-5. i was so pissed because we were up with them early on at 1-1, then it went downhill. Then up 4-2 in the second and went 5-1 from there.

i think its impossible for a 4.5 losing to a 4.0.
4.5 is a big differance to a 4.0 espically if the guys a pusher.
