Gonna travel across the state line and play a few Arkansas tournaments this year. I have some question about tournaments requirements so that I enter my kid in the right divisions.

Can someone explain the different levels? 3-4-5 What do they mean?

And also what is the difference between Open and Ranked?

Thanks

Think we've talked before, you were taking your kid to a tournament in MS? Well what state are you in right now? It really depends on the state. I would suggest finding a central website for Arkansas tennis, for instance Mississippi's is "mstennis.com."

Hey Matt, yes we talked before. I was asking about the Milsaps summer camp and some MS tournaments.

BigB, thanks got it all figured out now. Will be playing a tourny in AR weekend after next. Probably will do 8-10 all west of Little Rock since they took about a half a dozen previous Open tournaments here in Okla and made them novice. I did notice that we cant enter some since we dont live in Arkansas

I don't remember the Milsaps chat, but if I still can I would HIGHLY suggest the Country Club of Jackson (CCJ) tennis camps / drill clinic over the summer. The head pro there, Robert Russell, played on the tour for a number of years, and coached a few pros who played and had marquee wins at a few of the majors. Another pro was the top ranked junior in the world for a little while and played his college tennis at Ole Miss (a powerhouse from the start of the program). The other two girl pros are great as well.

I think they have helped me tremendously, they focus on doing things right, even if a bad result (at the beginning) to plant a strong foundation and eventually makes you a MUCH better player. I don't know where I would be without them. Also the coaches (sometimes, and you can ask) them to come to tournaments (locally) and they will come and help you out talk to you pre match / post match etc.

There will be plemty of tournaments to choose from the only closed tournaments will be the AR Closed, Jr Qualifier, and Southern Closed (18's).
Also the Southern Level 3's can be closed to out of section players if the draw of 32 becomes filled, this happened at the Polar Bear at the start of March.

Good luck to you in the tournaments.

Going to go ahead and play this weekend at the Ft. Smith tournament. Heard Southern section is very good so the kiddo may get blown off the court. Hell we may not want to go back to Arkansas after this one :)

Tough final with the kid from Tx. We won 5-7 7-5 (7)
Had a lot of fun. Hardscrabble was a nice place. The goodie bag was pretty cool. Maybe we'll see ya later this year.
