2 hour match I won 6-3 6-7(3) 10-5

Played a semifinal match yesterday on an indoor hardtru surface against a very tough opponent. When I first saw him I completely underestimated him as he was only 5' 4" and a very nerdy looking Asain kid. He was using a babolat pure drive team and during warm ups I could see he had a big game. If the match was on hardcourts, I know I would have lost but since hardtru/clay surfaces are my favorite, that edge definitely gave me the advantage I needed to win.

During the match, neither of us approached the net because he had great passing shots and I had pinpoint lobs. We endured many long grueling rallies and my dad noted one rally was around 35 shots. The tournament director started watching our match at around the one hour mark and told my dad and the kid's dad, "even though all the rallies are long, it's not like they're dinking the ball, they're doing something with every shot." I attempted to run him corner to corner every point and he often tried to hit behind me since I was running down a lot of his shots.

The most interesting thing about the match though was that out of 150 or more forehands I hit, all but 3 were hit Nadal style, reverse forehands. That kid had incredible stamina as most of the shots he returned were around his ear. My shots my have had incredible topspin and margin but definitely were not penatrating the court very well. It's nice that you have stats for your match. Next time though try to include the Aggressive Margin (your winners + his forced errors - your unforced errors). It's a very telling stat.

u must be quite a pusher. 7 unforced errors in that long of a match and only 4 winners. ur either a pro or a pusher. try to be more aggressive

although this kind of stat 7 unforced and 4 winners can be very effective in the long run... and it really depends on the age group and what level of tournament

I can hit through the ball somewhat when giving enough time even on reverse forehands. Right after I beat the kid and shook his hand, his dad came up to me shook my hand and said," You move very well and hit with a lot of spin."

This tournament was a L4 boys 16 and I played that kid the 2nd round. I ended up getting to the 4th round, finals, and getting crushed by an unseeded player 6-3 6-2, I was the number 2 seed in that tournament and played the number 3 seed in the semifinals and won 5-7 6-2 10-5.

When I said I hit only 4 winners, I consider a winner a shot where he doesn't even touch the ball, I had many forced errors due heavy topspin. Of the 4 winners, 1 was where the ball bounced right no the baseline, and rocketed up and hit the bubble, and another one was where I hit a deep topspin shot and he backed up and was forced to the wall but wasn't tall enough to reach the shot.

I should really learn how to upload a video of my self playing, I think you guys would be impressed.

No offense, but, from that it sounds like you just hacked him of the court. I wouldn't count a shot that bounces so high it lobs the guy as a winner.

oh and that match was also 2 hours and i had to a doubles match afterwards that also lasted 2 hours and ended 11-9 in a tiebreak. that doubles match determined the outcome of the meet so it was clutch.

Agreed. I make 7 unforced errors and 4 winners every game!! Closest I've had in a while was against a guy the same level 3-6 6-4 7-6(7-2).

(dont u just feel tingly when u see a draw, and the winner of the tournament won EVERYONE they played in a 3 set match? Like he could of lost any second there)
