I was wondering if you guys out there have had Elbow Problems from Topspin Cyberflash 17 string? I strung my rackets at 57-55 w/the 17 guage cyberflash.

I usually use head fxp syn gut 17 string and have no elbow problems whatsoever but am starting to get them after switching to this string.

Well its a lot stiffer than FXP, FXP is a multi.

What tension did you string the FXP at?

Did you drop the tension from your normal when you switched to CF?

While CF is softer than some polys, it's still not soft. I hear that CP is better but I haven't tried it. Just going to poly is going to stiff it up a lot from syn gut period.

I have heard that for those that want a bit of poly feel without the stiffness then you can try Head RipControl or Prince Recoil, they apparently add some elements without the stiffness.

That and the tension might be too high as other posters have suggested. Good luck! Maybe it's just not for you

Or you could just hybrid the CF with a softer string (like your FXP) to soften it up a bit, but still keep some of the CF's characteristics.

I've used CF 17 in two hybrids with no problems on my elbow. (crosses: Gosen Micro or Forten Sweet at 58-60 lbs.)

Is this a full bed? CF feels pretty crisp in most situations.

Go hybrid or loosen it up

the question is how long do you leave it in? By week #2 of frequent playing, my arm hurts like a muther. Cut it out, string it fresh and its bliss again.

I just had a hit with newly strung CF 1.20 mains and Forten Sweet crosses: 58/61.

I was pleasantly surprised: nice and crisp with very good feel. Not quite as "zingy" as I like--having more of a "crack" sound. But lots of control and surprising pop.

I may be onto something here.

I tried CF and Gosen Micro, and I think this felt even better--not as hard. (I did have that hybrid strung tighter, so that might explain it.) I also tried SPPP with Forten Sweet, and it was mush.

I strung the fxp at 60-58 and had no problems at all after almost daily playing at the 4.0 level.

My arm hurt that same day I had it strung after I hit with it. btw, it not only hurts the elbow but the shoulder too.

hi, it is a full bed of CF.

Did you drop the tension from your normal when you switched to CF?

yes, I dropped it by 2 lbs. I love the spin I get from this string...and it has plenty of feel for a poly, unlike kirschbaum. Feels great but my shoulder and elbow aren't feeling so great.

its an 18/20 pattern. i hit with it today and am a little sore but not really that bad. Its just i'm used to being at 100%, sore free. I'm about 75% now. My friend who had really bad elbow problems from tennis (who had to get surgery for it) said it happened a little bit each day, it would get sore, he kept playing, and each day it got worse. so thats whats scaring me.

Drop it 2 more lbs., or try a hybrid maybe even with your ole fave Head FXP.

Should feel right at home.

Cyberflash (all gauges) is bad for TE prone players. SPPP and PS Big Ace are better. PS Premier Ace and WC Silverstring (both 1.20mm) are the best copolys I have tried for sensitive arms (I have one).

Try polys in the mains and cross them with Forten Sweet 17 (try 2-3 lbs tighter in the crosses).
