Well i'm in southern california and i'm 14, so i'll tell you what i know.
Well you play tournaments in usta, and you get certain bonus points if you beat a guy ranked higher than you, and you get points for each match you advance like 2nd round and getting into the semi finals, etc...
To get added to your southern rankings i don't understand what your saying?

down here we have southern rankings to get into sectional tournaments such as bullfrogs, etc. the points that u get in a regular tournament, get added to ur southern points but they are reduced to a smaller number

OK, for Georgia start with a L5 tournament that gets:
Win - 22 points
Finalist - 18 points
Semi - 14 points
Quarter - 12 points
I you loose in the first 2 rounds and play the consolation draw then each win in the consolation draw is worth 2 points.
Now for a L4 tournament, multiply these points by 10, for a L3 multiply by 15, and for a State L2 multiply by 20. I believe that a Bullfrog designated tournament if it is played in Georgia is classified as a GA L2. You get bonus points if you beat a player that is ranked in the top 40 in GA.
Southern points are different and most Georgia tournaments will state their STA level. If not then a GA L4 is an STA L5 and the winner gets 44 Southern points.
Also, only the 6 best finishes in a rolling 12 month period count.
Both the GA USTA and Southern USTA websites have the point schedules listed under junior tournaments.

Short answer.....it depends.
What the draw limit is, where is the tournament, any other L3s being played on the same weekend. If the tournament is in metro Atlanta area (including Macon and Rome) and a 32 draw, suggest a minimum of a top 200 in the Southern standing to have a real chance. A 64 draw would be at least top 300 and a 128 draw will allow for most to get in that enter. Tournaments outside of Atlanta or even GA would be much easier to enter. Atlanta is an extremely competitive area for junior tennis. Also, if its a GA L2 / STA L3 and a closed tournament (limited to GA residents) then these are easier to get into.
Hope this helps, good luck.
